What does the JF-14 do, and does it replace a guitar amplifier?

JF-14 is an amp-simulation and tone-shaping pedal for electric guitar, covering clean to driven responses. It still needs a compatible amplifier, powered speaker, or interface; it has no built-in speaker, headphone, XLR, or USB output.

Why will the pedal not power on with a battery or adapter?

Insert a fully seated 1/4-inch mono plug into INPUT; this activates the power circuit, including battery mode. Use a fresh 6F22 9V battery or regulated DC 9V center-negative adapter, confirm polarity, and check whether the LED lights when engaged.

How do VOICE and DRIVE differ from the 3-band EQ?

DRIVE controls gain. VOICE changes the frequency and gain response and should be adjusted together with DRIVE. LOW, MID, and HIGH then refine the tonal balance, while LEVEL sets the final output. Start near noon and make small changes.

What should I check if there is no sound, hiss, buzz, or feedback?

Test JF-14 alone with one guitar, one amplifier, and two known-working cables. Confirm Guitar → INPUT and OUTPUT → Amplifier, fully inserted plugs, correct 9V center-negative power, and moderate settings. Also separate audio cables from power wiring.

Can I use JF-14 with bass, acoustic-electric instruments, microphones, or harmonicas?

JF-14 is voiced for electric guitar and accepts mono 1/4-inch instrument-level connections. Other sources may give different levels, tone, or feedback behavior. It is not a microphone preamp, DI box, headphone amp, or dedicated bass pedal.
