It is what is known as a 'chromatic tuner'. It detects vibrations, computes the frequency and shows whichever note you are closest to. It can, therefore, tune pretty much any instrument. It is a wonderful piece of kit. I have 3 or 4 of them. **Q: Can you tell me if the display is changeable from 'Landscape' to 'Portrait' as it seems to me that the display will never be upright?** A: The display has four orientations 2 in portrait (at 180 degrees to each other) and 2 in landscape (again at 180 degrees to each other). **Q: Will this tuner cover Banjo, Guitar, Uke / Banjolele, Dulcimer. Has anyone used this tuner with a 12 string acoustic guitar? If so, how did it perform?** A: Just seen your question. I don't have a 12-string acoustic anymore, but it works perfectly well with an acoustic and also with my Rickenbacker 620/12 electric 12-string. As long as you only strike one string at a time it should function prefectly well, as it reads the vibration rate from being clipped to the headstock. An acoustic will have very good resonance, so the tuner reads the vibration rate clearly and easily.
