I’m not sure you can. I do know you can’t have 2 phones connected to the TempSpike at the same time.

Can the probe be left in the meat during cooking?

Yes it can, it is designed to be left in. It will tell you the ambient temperature (temperature of the oven) as well as the internal temperature of what you are cooking. There is a limit as to how hot the ambient (oven) temperature can be for the device so be sure not to go over that (say in a pizza oven or something like that).

why does it have to be buried up to the black line? say if the meat is thin?

I think its just so that it measures the temperature accurately. For thin cuts of meat if I have to use a thermometer I use the wired ThermoPros which are much narrower.
