From flashily whiskered pop tearaway to Ivor Novello and BRIT award winning rock star and the mega-watt melodic genius responsible for ten Top 20 hits and six Top 20 albums - I Should Coco was Parlophone's fastest selling debut since the Beatles Please Please Me - Gaz Coombes returns with his remarkable solo album, entitled Matador . 'There's this disposable vibe around music at the moment which is odd, because it's so obviously central to most people's lives,' says Gaz. 'Life is full of moments of fear, loss and longing, but it's how you get through those things and triumph over them which define you. But there's as much light as there is dark on this record; there's beauty in both of those states and that has always intrigued me.' Review: A Beautiful, Soulful, Fun, Skillfully Made Album That I'm In Love With - There is so much to say about this album. In an age of shallow revelation and celebration of such, it is indeed a gem of an album to find music so honest & satisfying because of ingredients that make it so appealing: honest, mature, experimental, quirky and fun. There is also the impressive fact that Gaz plays most of the instruments on all tracks*! I just want to listen to it all the time. It has kept me going back for more because of the lyrical honesty and because I love the sound that he has created. I would recommend buying this album. It is already like a friend of mine, which I can't say about many albums and certainly not of recent releases. It is also very inspiring. Get it!! *except where indicated. Review: His best since a long time - A really nice return to business by ex-Supergrass' singer. Probably Mr Coombes' best work since "Road to Rouen" with his former band. Worth more than just a quick listen, but with serious attention.

His best since a long time
A really nice return to business by ex-Supergrass' singer. Probably Mr Coombes' best work since "Road to Rouen" with his former band. Worth more than just a quick listen, but with serious attention.

Top album
Really works as a whole album. Some great songs on there, worth a few listens to really get into it.

This is one of the best albums of the year so far and shows how far Gaz has travelled, especially in recent years. To my ears there are clear Radiohead influences here (no bad thing at all) and it occasionally lapses into Arcade Fire territory but make no mistake, this is all his own work. Excellent!!!

Stunning
Absolutely stunning album! One of the few albums you can say "every track is 5 star". Full of emotion - a very strong and well written & performed album. Good old Gaz!

Great Album!
Second album from Gaz. A really departure from Supergrass. A bit Radiohead in places, but still a great album nevertheless.

Genius
A complex, somewhat challenging but memorable record. Well worth the effort. 5/5 Gaz!

Bellissimo album
Bravissimo Gaz. Album veramente splendido!! Aspetto con ansia il prossimo. Un autore tutto da riscoprire. Il cd mi è giunto perfettamente integro e puntuale.

... me a while to get into it but now like it a lot - dreamy
Took me a while to get into it but now like it a lot - dreamy, rocky, soundscapes and thoughtful words, well put together.
