Review: Top Notch Work Bench - Exceptional work bench, really solid, set up in seconds, I've no doubt it can take the claimed 200kg and look great doing it. Proper heavy duty metal and wood, none of this modern plastic nonsense and despite being fairly sizable it's much easier to use and manage than other metal benches, such as a top of the line B&D Workmate. Very pleased with this purchase.
Review: Good Product - Very Pleased. - Delivered quickly by Yodel to North Essex (Saffron Walden). Arrived in Bosch box in good condition. Simply unpacked it, had a quick glimpse at the instruction book just to be sure and opened bench out ready for work in seconds, it was as easy as that. Nothing to put together, no additional tools, easy to operate and light to carry yet feels strong. Ingenious design by Bosch. Simple to collapse and fold away, no getting fingers caught or struggling, it's a very easy bench to operate and finished to a high standard. Made in India written on box but don't let that put you off buying one of these, this is typical German quality. Very slim when stowed. My wife will be able to operate this with ease it's so simple to set up and take down. Has a very large bench top when open, giving a nice big flat work surface. The red plastic clamps which fit into the ready made holes of the work top can be stored underneath on the framework in purpose made holes, a feature I like because you know where they are and are easy to retrieve when you want to use them. Has a useful indent/tray area at the front for leaving a pencil or some screws while you are working. Handles work well and I noticed that the threaded bar connected to them and the vice/worktop even has a dab of grease on to keep it running smoothly. Being a keen DIY 56 year old with a lot of projects on the go including constructing a decking verandah outside our new conservatory, I think this will prove to be a good purchase and because of the build quality it will probably see me out! I recommend this product. UPDATE.3/6/13. Had this for a week now and have used it mostly for sawing 4 x 2 timber. I have to agree with a previous reviewer who said that it wobbled about when he was sawing wood. This is because of the excellent height of the bench and the fact that it has many joints in the fold out/in legs. I'm still glad I bought it. It's quality. I have since also purchased a B&D 301 from desertcart at a very good price. This is slightly more stable than this Bosch 600 when sawing wood, but the height is too low for me. I was put off buying the B&D 536 or 825 by all the negative views, but now I'm wondering??

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have an original B&D workmate which is still in use but a bit heavy for me now. It takes my weight if I stand on it. Would this one be ok for that?**
A: No they say do not stand on it....actually it is so relatively flimsy I wouldn't stand on it anyway.if you have an old original workmate its 50 times better than anything you can buy these day.......... Hold on to it .I rue the day I threw mine away...even if its a bit heavy its a great bit of kit and better than current workmates and especially the Bosch.I think the Bosch is totally under engineered and not up to any serious task.

**Q: Can I use a circular saw with it**
A: Yes. But take care not to bruise the natural wood jaw to the vice interface. I use mine gingerly for hand tools in most applications. Take care using it and it will last years. I've had mine for about 4 years. I do have a regular workbench with heavy carpentry vices for regular work. You won't be disappointed with this piece.

**Q: Can this be used for sawing logs for woodburning stove? Apologies for ignorance.**
A: To use this for cutting logs would damage the bench and potentially be dangerous for you. We use a log horse - we bought ours from screwfix and it is excellent, designed for the job and well worth the money.

**Q: Is this the bench that Benedict Cumbersnatch would buy?**
A: It’s Cumberbatch, not Cumbersnatch. In any case he an actor, he is minted, what would he buy a work bench for?

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bosch PWB 600 - Fantastic
*by R***E on 2 August 2012*

I had almost given up on finding a proper folding workbench. Like many I have given-up on the original Black & Decker range since whey introduced the cheap plastic caps that the threads screw into, as these break all too often. Indeed the B&D range is so cheaply made that they provide no meaningful service life. The Draper, Clarke and Sealey versions are no better, although the Woolcraft range has some redeeming features but lacks outright strength. But the new Bosch PWB 600 is in a different league to them all. The machining, fit and finish of the load-bearing parts is incredible. The folding action is super smooth, easy to accomplish and produces either a stable platform or an ultra thin square shape for easy storage. The extra large top deck is welcome, as is the use of bamboo and you can even snug-up a stool or similar as the overhang at the rear can cater for your knees. The dogs are well made, do the business and stow away at the rear of the lower green bar with the Bosch logo. Of equal quality is the tool tray, which is a well finished metal tray that should cope with robust use and it does not get in the way. The black bar near floor level means you can slip a foot or toe on it to provide extra stability when wrestling with more challenging project. Hard to find many negatives, but being picky I would have liked the imbedded metal ruler to fit flush with the surface and have inches as well as metric. A slightly larger span to clamp larger parts, without resorting to the dogs, would have been nice too. Clearly designed with the professional in mind, the price (given the quality) will attract the premium end of the DIY market. For the DIYers that have suffered a failure of the other types of workbench should look at this too, whatever their budget. A must have item for the mobile professional or the DIYer who is looking for a product built to last - fantastic!
