Worked first time without any setting at all. VERY quickly delivered by Kikatek. Some stuff the description leaves out: There's an external powersupply with this and it needs to be plugged in to function. There are eight Ethernet RJ45 sockets. ONE of which acts as an input (ie, 'the internet' coming from your router or HomeHub) the other SEVEN of which allow bits of gear to be hardwired to this input. (ie, It's not one 'in' and eight 'outs'). Box is very small and compact. Absolutely silent. I ran out of Ethernet ports for my AV gear on my HomeHub 5 (which I had to have in a cupboard giving rubbish WiFi). This TP box fixed all that. Here's how I'm using it: BT HomeHub 5 now in optimum position in the dining room, WiFi reaching the whole house. Ethernet cable runs from HomeHub socket 1 to my Mac close-by. Sorted. A second ethernet cable runs from HomeHub's socket 2 under the floorboards across the house to the media room and this TP-Link 8-Port box. This now gives me SEVEN hard-wired ready to go Ethernet ports in amongst my AV gear pile: So that's a hard-wired Apple TV, YouView Box, BluRay player, Smart Sony TV, Pioneer AirPlay Amp, PlayStation 4 and one spare ;) ZERO gear using shonky WiFi connection – all gear exposed to BT Infinity running at top speed. Magic and an absolute bargain for around £11! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quick to Set Up & Extends Network Beautifully *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 2 January 2016* First ever review on here and I have been an Amazon customer for years, but this was so quick and painless to set up, it definitely deserves a recommendation. I'll keep things as simple as possible as even a technophobe should not be put off buying and setting this up.I bought the 8-Port version as I have a few devices in my study that have no wireless capabilities, and I wanted to ensure they were all connected to my home network. I have one long main Ethernet (Network) cable running from my router/hub (Virgin Media) in the livingroom, and rather than having multiple long cables running from this hub to my study, I thought it best to buy one of these to connect the main Ethernet cable to instead. Then I could simply have many smaller cables connecting to this box as required.That was the plan, and it went as smoothly as possible. I just simply connected the 8-port box to the mains using the plug/adaptor provided and then placed the main Ethernet cable running from my livingroom into the first port on this box (although any port would do - it shouldn't matter). Then I simply connected several other smaller cables from this box to my main computer, blu-ray player, Raspberry Pi, and Smart TV that are in my study. Once the green lights on the box started flashing for each port, I knew they were up-and-running. A quick check of each device ensured Internet connectivity. No fuss, no faffing about with ip addresses, no changing of settings, just true 'plug-n-play'.So if you are looking to extend the wired part of your home network, I wholeheartedly would recommend this. At an excellent sub-£10 price tag, I only wish I had bought one long before now!(Please also note that the instructions point out 16-port version can be wall mounted, however the ones with fewer ports cannot - this wasn't an issue for me as I have it tucked away under my desk, but it might be relevant for others who prefer easier access).Hope this helps! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Plug and Play... But you can't plug it in!! *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 11 April 2017* The description says "plug and play" - but there's one problem - it's not a standard UK plug! It's a European plug - so you have to buy an adapter before you can "plug and play".(Unofficially - you "can" override the earth pin - allowing you to use the supplied plug without an adapter.)Also - it is not supplied with an rj45 network cable to connect the switch to your router. So again, before you plug and play - you've also got to buy a network cable or find one.BUT... after those two little niggles it is a great little switch. You plug one cable from your router to the switch - this leaves 7 ports free for you to play with. There is nothing to configure, it just works.
