They are quite snug but I love them as does everyone that sees them. **Q: Can you use them on doctor martin boots** A: Laces are an intrisic part and design of Doc Marten boots. Why take them out? **Q: Are these suitable for mens smart shoes or just for trainers?** A: It depends how big the shoe lace hole is. They are not good for loops. They need to be a good size hole for the no tie lace end to fit. These laces were the solution to my issue. I am a size 6 women's shoe, and I was able to use half a pack of these laces for my nice "dress" sneakers and the second, "larger" laces for a pair of hi top converse sneakers. They are a little bit fiddly to get installed, especially if your shoe does not have metal eyelets (eg sneakers like converse which only have sewn eyelets), but once they are installed they are fantastic and they look great too. A lot neater than conventional laces and a heck of a lot easier to get on and off with ease.
