What is the weight capacity of each shelf?

Hello Molly, Thanks for reaching out with this question. This counter height metal storage cabinet comes with 2 adjustable shelves and 1 fixed bottom shelf, each adjustable shelf holds up to a maximum of 180 lbs for items evenly distributed. The bottom fixed shelf can hold up to 230 lbs maximumly. We hope this helps! In case you need any further information, please feel free to let us know. Thank you! - The Jingle Furniture Team

What is the thickness of the steel?

I don’t know the actual thickness but it is pretty heavy and very well made

Can it just be mounted on the wall off the floor?

There are no holes drilled in the back of this cabinet and given the weight capacity of this unit, I would advise against mounting on the wall. The metal construction is not a very thick gauge as it doesn't have to be for floor mounting so the attaching hardware that you would use may pull through the metal.

How would this work for storing dumbbells? To hide in living area when not in use. Range from 1 pound up to 25 pounds. Thanks!

Yes, this metal storage cabinet can be well used for storing dumbbells. The maximum loading capacity for the 2 adjustable shelve and the fixed bottom shelf is 180 lbs/shelf, the cabinet top can also hold up to 180 lbs. It is advised that you place heavier items on the bottom shelf.
