Review: Reel is amazing! Packaging sucks! - Haven’t got to use the reel yet so I won’t have much insight on the performance but it seems very smooth and built extremely well, the package arrived in an desertcart bag and inside the bag was the box, it was a half opened box from Lews with the reel inside and nothing else, I could tell the reel had spun causing the triggers on the reel to open the box, nothing major but I personally don’t like the thought of my new $100 reel bouncing around in the packaging, no styrofoam or air inserts to cushion the package or anything, my reel seems to be in perfect working condition but I guess it’s just one of those peace of mind things when you think about it being jumbled all around the state in the back of an desertcart truck.

Haven’t got to use the reel yet so I won’t have much insight on the performance but it seems very smooth and built extremely well, the package arrived in an Amazon bag and inside the bag was the box, it was a half opened box from Lews with the reel inside and nothing else, I could tell the reel had spun causing the triggers on the reel to open the box, nothing major but I personally don’t like the thought of my new $100 reel bouncing around in the packaging, no styrofoam or air inserts to cushion the package or anything, my reel seems to be in perfect working condition but I guess it’s just one of those peace of mind things when you think about it being jumbled all around the state in the back of an Amazon truck.

Casts like a dream, capable of some impressive distances. Even with smaller spinners both brakes, once set, performed flawlessly. Good firm drag for horsing fish away from snags. Casts were a little noisy at first but soon quietened down, presumably because the grease had worked its way into the reel properly. Now everything is smooth as silk.
