Like Ms. Collins, I have tried every diet, exercised like crazy, read every diet book and psychology book related to food, I could have started my own library.Ms. Collins has always been open with her struggles with alcohol and depression, so to include how food was also an addiction (something we dont always recognize in ourselves or others), she takes the reader on her journey towards her path to healing.I have lost over 30 lbs. but I can relate to her struggles, the literal cravings, the eating "normally" around others but bingeing on junk when others arent there. I applaud her saying that she is not an authority on diet and nutrition, but shares the solution that finally worked for her. I also enjoyed her including the histories of the many diet gurus, going all the way back to Lord Byron.Weight, food, and self image go hand in hand. It isn't until one recognizes certain patterns that the truth is revealed. To those who struggle, you are not alone, find the help you need, and work with the emotional and nutritional tools you are given. And Judy, May you stay forever young. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brutal and Courageous in its Honesty *by on Reviewed in the United States April 22, 2022* I hadn’t thought about Judy Collins in a long time, and somehow came across this book. I had read others of hers, but this one focuses on her addictions, both to alcohol and food. Clearly it has been a long journey for her, in terms of keeping her career going and at the same time both practicing and dealing with her cravings, and her description of her journey and the turning point in getting free is very moving and was very inspiring to me. I wish the book hadn’t ended so abruptly, because her descriptions of her life as an addict were very lengthy and detailed, and when she began to recover, the book sped up and ended rather abruptly.
