If the software supports midi it will support this device. But I suggest just saving up a little more for an mpk25 or one of the other keyboard/drum pad combos. Also I was dissatisfied with the sensitivity of the pads themselves. Ended up reselling mine on craigslist within 2 months of buying it. **Q: Can it be used wired instead of wireless** A: AKAI support here! The LPD8 is wired only. If you're referring to the newer model, LPD8 Wireless, it can be used via Bluetooth or USB connection. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me directly at mvieira@inmusicbrands.com. **Q: Can this be used with serato stems?** A: Hi, Akai Pro support here! You can create a manual mapping for the LPD8 within Serato Stems by following the instructions in this support article: support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/5732598890127 **Q: Will this work for sure with a chromebook laptop (acer)? akai support (2017) says it may.** A: AKAI support here! Technically, because the included software won't work on a Chromebook due to the OS, we can't guarantee your full purchase will work. The LPD8 should connect just fine since it doesn't require drivers. As long as you find another program that works on Chrome OS and supports the LPD8, you should be fine. Durable, responsive, compatible, and comes with loads of bonus software. The pads are a little stiff. I gotta smack em purdy hard but they just need to be broken in. It’s compact and looks dope. Doesn’t feel too light and cheap or too heavy and out dated. Very durable. Connects via usb. Plug and play all day. If you travel bring it with you on the plane and plug it up to your laptop and you’re back at it. If you’re looking to run it as your main drum pad tho in a home studio setup drop the additional $100 and buy the studio MPD. This is definitely for travel purposes ## Frequently Bought Together - AKAI Professional LPD8 - USB MIDI Controller with 8 Responsive RGB MPC Drum Pads for Mac and PC, 8 Assignable Knobs and Music Production Software - LTGEM Hard Case for AKAI Professional LPD8 USB MIDI Controller(New Model), Inside: 13.3x"3.3"x2", Black+Red - AKAI Professional LPK25 - USB MIDI Keyboard Controller with 25 Responsive Synth Keys for Mac and PC, Arpeggiator and Music Production Software, black --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/474251427-akai-professional-lpd8-mk2-mini-usb-controller-black](https://www.desertcart.no/products/474251427-akai-professional-lpd8-mk2-mini-usb-controller-black) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
