## Overview

Everbrite 32 Oz. Clear Protective Coating is a polymer-based, water-resistant sealant designed to restore color and luster to all types of metal surfaces. Featuring strong UV blockers and a self-leveling, self-annealing formula, it prevents tarnish, rust, corrosion, and fading. Easy to apply by dip, brush, wipe, or spray, it covers up to 250 sq ft per coat and requires no sanding or priming, making it ideal for both painted and unpainted metals including copper, brass, bronze, steel, and anodized aluminum.

## Description

A Quart - 32 Oz. can of Everbrite Coating will seal and protect about 250 square feet of metal with one coat. Most projects require 2 coats for long-lasting results. Suggested Projects: Painted metal, Siding, Copper Roof or Gutters, Signs, Trailers, Front Doors, Garage Doors, Anodized Aluminum, Brass, Bronze & More. Everbrite Coating is a tough, durable, clear protective coating that will restore the color and luster of faded metals, and protects metals from tarnish, rust, corrosion, fading, chalking, oxidation and even UV rays. You can use Everbrite on painted and unpainted metals. Bonds to itself - no sanding or priming needed to apply or reapply. Everbrite can be easily applied to a clean surface. Dip, Brush, Wipe-on or Spray.

Review: Expensive, but the best for coating metal - I have a lot of cast-aluminum deck furniture that is now 13 years old. The SC sun eventually kills the finish. The furniture in the shaded, screened porch has retained its bronze finish, but the finish of pieces in the weather faded to the color and texture of charcoal briquettes. Replacing the furniture would have been thousands of dollars. I knew that painting the furniture would have been pretty easy, but it would not last a long time and would become dull and faded. Every other year, I would end up painting again. I cleaned the furniture and brushed Everbrite directly over the existing finish. Of course, it did not return the bronze color (Everbrite is clear) but it made the furniture a very attractive, very glossy black. It looks brand new. The pic I attached shows the first coat on a small table sitting beside a chair that had not been touched. The pic does not really do the product adequate justice. One coat got me about 90% of where I wanted to be. I could have stopped there, but I put two coats on every piece so that I would have a thicker and glossier surface Things you need to know: 1) the product seems to be a type of plastic that is dissolved in xylene. The xylene keeps the product about the consistency of maple syrup. As the xylene evaporates, the product hardens. 2) Xylene is extremely aromatic. If you don't have a place to work that is covered and well ventilated, this is not the product for you. I recommend natural ventilation as fans will reduce the working time which is already pretty fast. You want the product to have time to self-level to remove brush strokes. Also, as the product dries, there is a time that the finish is very sticky. You don't want fans blowing bugs or debris into the finish. 3) I know that no finish can stand up to continuous sun and weather for years and years. I can't tell you how long the product will last in the long term, but I am 100% sure that it is better than paint, poly, or anything else I could find. I have had it in the SC weather for a couple of months now and it looks just like it did when I applied the finish. The manufacturer says it has UV resistance, so only time will tell. 4) Lastly, a small point. Due to the viscosity, I recommend applying with a brush and letting it self-level. However, it gets very tacky pretty quickly. Spend the money and use only high quality brushes. The stickiness of the drying product will pull the bristles out of lower quality brushes and they will end up embedded in the finish. Good Luck!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this product appropriate for sterling silver and how long will it keep the pieces from tarnishing**
A: Everbrite works great, but is for outdoor applications mainly, I believe. I used it on wind chimes and a copper display plate and they are tarnish free months later. If you have silver or other metal jewelry that you want to keep from tarnishing, you would use ProtectaClear instead.

**Q: Are everbrite and protectaclear one in the same just different branding?**
A: No. Even though Everbrite and ProtectaClear have some similar characteristics, they are different coatings and are made from different resins. ProtectaClear is a harder resin that is better on highly polished metals. Everbrite has UV blockers and is a little thicker and is better for painted metals, anodized metals and rusted metal. If you would like to know which coating is better for your project, check out the decision graphic on each Everbrite and ProtectaClear product.

**Q: Could this be used to seal a copper birdbath before applying mosaic glass chips?**
A: Everbrite is great to seal copper bird baths. I would recommend applying the coating over the entire birdbath including the glass chips. You can coat it either before or after you apply the mosaic but Everbrite will seal the entire birdbath to protect the copper and the mosaic as well. Three coats are recommended. It sounds beautiful.

**Q: which product is best for copper molds hanging in a steamy kitchen?**
A: No I dont suggest using Everbrite. For your kitchen copper I suggest using Protectaclear. You will want the clean them up and make them look as you want them to. Coat them with 1-2 coats of the ProtectaClear and they will stay clean and bright for years.

I used this on some barn steel. I wanted to save the rust and make it all look shiny and prevent it from rusting further. The product is easy to work with and it looks great. It has a wet look and and the rust pop.
