How much is 80 pounds per caster? What would be the total weight of the user?

80 pounds per caster, 3 casters per kneeblade, 2 kneeblades, so 80x3x2 or 80x6 or 8x6 and add a zero. 480. Simple math even your smart phone could do.

My wife has to go down on her knees a lot and works in a variety of positions. Would these be practical for her type of work?

These work good for me because I do construction. When I'm redoing a floor I am able to glide along much faster than walking on my knees. To be honest they are not light in weight...but they work for me. I use them without having to strap them on. I just kneel on them because I am up and down a lot. I hope this helps you.

Do the wheels use ball bearings or is it just an axle that runs through them?

The wheels have an axel running through them.
