Review: Don't loose the washer! - This is easy to use, easy to clean (just rinse it out), and makes great tasting coffee. Some of the reviews say that the unit leaks. There is a washer that goes in the "plug" to stop the leaking. Ours was lost when we took it completely apart to clean it and it started leaking when we put it back together without the washer. If you look up the part, Kitchen Aid wants $30+ for the washer, but you can bring the plug to your Handyman Hardware or other friendly hardware store and they can help you find a regular replacement for a few dollars. I happened to have the correct size washer on a rolling pin. The original washer was flat, but this one was round...it worked fine. No more leaking! So if you have a leak, you just need to get a new washer. As for the coffee...I love this because I can get regular ol' cheap coffee and it tastes great! It takes a lot of coffee, but I can spend $3 for a bag of whatever at Aldi and it makes about 10 cups of rich coffee. Even though it is "cold brew," I still warm up each cup once it is diluted. This makes a kind of coffee syrup that you dilute with water or milk to get to the concentration you like. It is a great size. It fits into the odd space in our fridge under the meat drawer. And the spigot is sturdy so it holds up when you inevitably pull it to move the unit far enough from the shelf so you can fill up one mug right in the fridge. I fill it up Friday morning and it gives us coffee all weekend. It is part of our relaxing weekend ritual.
Review: Will Pay For Itself In 1-2 Months - Honestly bro, to say that we are coffee people would be an understatement. For the longest time though, we thought there was no better cold brew than the one from our local coffee shop - boy were we wrong. We'd tried several other cold brew coffee "makers" and the all had issues that significantly affected the taste of the coffee they produced, so we eventually went back to our rather expensive habit. A few weeks ago, we saw an ad for this KitchenAid cold brew coffee maker and decided to get back into the fray of at-home coffee making. Right off the bat, this cold brew coffee maker is sturdy and well-built - at least on the outside. The glass is quite heavy duty so it can withstand the occasional bump, and the brushed stainless steel details make it really nice to look at. But, where this baby really shines is in the product that results. What you really pay for when you buy cold brew coffee makers like this one is the coffee filter itself. The better the quality of the "mesh," the better tasting your coffee will be. With previous items, we've had to add an additional filtration step using cheesecloth to get some of the grinds out of the coffee, but with this KitchenAid, the holes in the metal coffee filter are so small, that very little filters out into the actual coffee liquid. The result is, in our opinion, some of the best cold brew coffee outside of any coffee shop. Sure, the price tag is a little high (we got ours when it was on sale, so it cost around $90), but with a 28oz carafe, this is enough quality coffee to replace 6 coffees from the coffee shop each week. If you do the math, you're saving $25-30 bucks a week and can make about 6 weeks worth of coffee from a single bag of ground coffee, so this baby really can pay for itself in 1-2 months. The biggest drawbacks, and they are minimal, would be that for us, the 28oz version is a little small (but the 48oz version was over $150 and we couldn't justify spending that much), in addition, the mesh filter itself is quite delicate, so you have to be very careful when washing, drying, and storing it. Overall though, again for us, this has so far been worth the price. We are starting week 3 today and so far, have really enjoyed the flavor of the coffee our KitchenAid makes, the look of the item itself, and the fact that we haven't gone out for coffee for two weeks.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: As i understand it, when following the instructions, this makes COFFEE CONCENTRATE that must be diluted using water and/or milk. Correct?**
A: The directions say to dilute it 1:3. I've found this to be a bad mix. It's just too weak at that ratio. I say dilute 1:1. You can just pour half coffee, half whole milk into a cup, and it's perfect.

**Q: Do you have to have coffee beans coarse ground for this or can you just buy a can of coffee at the grocery store ?**
A: I’ve tried both regular and coarse ground and coarse is much better. Regular coffee made a super thick cold brew. Like mud. I have a coffee grinder so I just buy whole bean coffee for the summer months when we switch to cold brew.

**Q: How long does it take to brew cold brew coffee**
A: I brew mine 24-72 hours, but there’s not a lot of difference in that range. Certainly no less than 12 though unless you don’t mind it coming out like regular coffee

**Q: Does it come with the elevated black stand as pictured? The answers to prior queries on this issue are conflicting.**
A: I bought this and it did not come with the stand.
