What I loved about The Night She Disappeared is the fact that all the characters felt so real. The setting is beautiful yet chilling. The twists keep coming at literally a breakneck speed. The story is from multiple POV's Talulah's as well as her mother Kim's. Kims POV is about the present whereas her daughter's is from the past leading up to the day she disappeared. This definitely was a novel which I just couldn't put down at all. Filled with emotions, secrets, lies and a ton of mystery, this is one of the best books I've read so far this year. The story in Lisa Jewell’s latest is pretty straightforward- a mother’s continued attempts to find her daughter after she and her partner mysteriously disappear after a night out at the pub. The fresh presentation is what makes it stand out. The narrative progresses through 3 time lines- 2017- Kim, a relatively young mother, tracing her daughter’s path during the tragic night and interacting with all involved- 2016- The daughter, Tallulah’s POV leading up to the night and her encounter with the enchanting Scarlet- 2018- Present day- Sophie, a cozy mystery novelist moves into Maypole house with her partner, the new headmaster- the house bordering the forest leading to the Dark Place, Scarlett’s house. How clues start popping up at random, how the 3 timelines converge and whether the mystery of the cold case is deciphered forms the rest of the story. Positives first- the pace and the way author doesn’t lose the plot inspite of the characters popping in and out is a major plus- if anything, the way the story unravels with each character makes it more interesting. The mother daughter relationship was well written and it heightens the emotional connect upon the final reveal. The final reveal might be a slight negative since you would have guessed it at the half way point. The police investigation, seems half baked, especially with a detective author uncovering more than the cops themselves. The AGGGTM hangover toward the finale felt off. Overall a fast paced thriller which kept me hooked throughout- 4 🌟

Slow burning, Riveting read!

Another one of the bests
I have loved all the books of Lisa Jewell. Loved the ways she writes and the plot twists the books carry. This is another one of my favourites as I am a huge fan of thrillers and Lisa Jewel's books always hit the spot. A gread read

Gripping
The plot was great, especially the ending was phenomenal, as expected it went smooth but the Epilogue was mind blowing.

A good but not so surprising read.
The story starts with Tallulah, a teenage mom who plans to go out with her friends and leaves her baby, Noah with her mom, Kim. She tells her mom that she'd be back home soon but she never returned. One year after, Shaun and Sophie moves to a cottage where Shaun started work in a school. Sophie is a novelist by profession and one day in the back garden of her cottage, she found a cardboard fence which reads "Dig Here". Sophie starts investigation and what she found is devastating. Sophie, Zach, Kim and others are good characters and narration of the story is good. But I personally didn't like the ending. Zach didn't deserve that, did he? This makes it a one time read. Read it one time and then forget about it. It's not a memorable story.

Received in good paperback condition. Story plot’s good, almost 500pages. Lotta twists & turns. Multiple POVs. Slow-burn, but detailed. Keep pen & pad ready, plenty characters, so it could get confusing.

Excellent read and gripping
It uses the latest trend of going back and forth in timelines but a refreshing plot and a gripping story. Took some time to get hooked but loved it.

Perfectly brilliant!
I like all of LJ's thrillers (especially Watching You, which is a masterpiece) but this might be the best of all. Intricately constructed plot and a real puzzler, a great read. Hats off!

Psychological crime thriller full of twists and turns keeping you hooked!
Absolutely loved this book. From the moment I began reading I was hooked. It’s set in 5 parts and the story is told alternatively in the present and past, gradually giving the reader more knowledge and answers. Once the past meets with the present, a lot of questions are answered but it still leaves the reader anticipating why is going to happen next. This book was full of tension and suspense, it was dark and had me eagerly reading through each chapter. I have always loved Lisa Jewell’s writing style and this book in my eyes, is one of her best. Once I’d got about 20% in, I ended up finishing it in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down. I especially love how it misleads you in places and makes you think you know what’s happening or happened, then a surprise twist comes to play and you realise how wrong you were. The character development throughout the book was superb! You start with one view of the main characters and by the end, you have a completely different view, which unravels at a perfect pace within its chapters. I particularly liked the end and the surprise twist of one character and his motives/part they deceivingly played within the plot! I highly recommend this book to readers of psychological, crime thrillers. It’s full of twists and turns which keeps you hooked. Another 5 star read from the amazing Lisa Jewell!

Love Lisa Jewells book, her writing superb, you will be hooked from the very beginning and just can not put the book down, if you enjoy thriller/suspense novels you will love this

Splendid
From beginning to end, a great mystery that grabs you from page one. I've read many books of Jewell and loved them all, but this one leapt to number one favorite. Don't miss it!
