Very Good Coverage of Japanese Samurai leaders
Finally got down to reading this book. I had previously bought it for the magnificent drawings which are very well-done.The text is surprisingly readable, and there is a chronological introduction of the famous samurai leaders as they appear throughout Japanese history. The retelling of their exploits only serve to reinforce their names and military achievements for the lay reader. What is very helpful in this book is that there is a short commentary on the evolution and trends in warfare for each specific military period, and why the specific named leaders were highlighted for their roles.This book (Part one) covers the period of warfare from the Classical period to part of the Sengoku period. There is a follow-up book (Part two).

Beautiful photos
Purchased this for my grandson who was doing a report on samurai. The book was very helpful and the pictures were outstanding. I found it very interesting that his school will not let the students us Wikipedia. So this book really was on target for him.
