Microplane Garlic Mincer and Slicer Set (Red)

I was somewhat skeptical about this product even though it is a Microplane product. I have most of their products in my kitchen and all work better than advertised or described. This product was not a disappointment. It took a few minutes to figure out how it worked. I had read some of the 1 star reviews of this product and realized that the reviewers had not figured out how to use the product as I had, but once I had it working it does exactly as described and minces and slices garlic without any problems at all. I have a lot of garlic press/mincers in my kitchen gadgets drawers and cabinets but this one is going to replace a bunch of them. The secret to this device's use is getting the slide mechanism over the blade before putting it into the clear catch unit. Then when you finish you can pull the blade out of catch unit for cleaning. Sliding the slide unit to one end of the blade and tilt it away while pushing down on the opposite end of the blade (along the plastic edge to disengage it from the blade -- simple. It might be a single purpose product, but for what it's designed for it does it both efficiently and well. Another win for Microplane.

I have every kitchen gadget known to mankind, and this ranks among the worst wastes of money. It doesn't really work well, and just makes a mess of the garlic. Slicing by hand is easier, and there are better ways to mince. This thing is overly complicated. I would stay away from it, because there are much better products on the market that do these jobs WAY better. No offense to Microplane, because they have some great products. But they should never have put their name on this. Trust me you'll regret purchasing it and/or it will sit in the drawer until you throw it away.

I love this little gadget! I am so tired of having my fingers smell like garlic after I’ve used it for a meal (I’m one of those people who retains the fragrance for days). I wasn’t sure how the grating part would be, but it is wonderful. Even the slices come out nicely. I had to learn how much pressure to use, but it doesn’t take but the first use to figure that out. A little sneaks out of the sides, but who cares! My fingers didn’t get grated and they don’t stink! Bravo Microplane!!!

Very disappointed in this product. It is difficult to put together but even harder to take apart which you have to do to get the garlic and clean it. The grater shreds the garlic in long strips and the slicer didn't do a good job at all. The blades are designed to cut in either direction which make it hard to clean safely.

I wish this could be a little bit larger to make it easier to hold in my hands. Other than that it is very nicely designed. I can grate an entire bulb of garlic in just a short time which is wonderful for making my cream cheese garlic spread. Everything is easy to clean and it even has a small device to scrape out all of the garlic from the reservoir. I haven’t actually used the planer to make thin slices yet but I can’t imagine that it would be any less functional than the grater.

The concept is great but the design isn't there. The blade is dull and too narrow to effectively slice garlic. It ends up being bruised and shredded. This would be ok for someone afraid of using knives, but is not as the pictures show and not worth the time for professionals.

This is a great, compact little gadget that works great and is easy to clean. I’ve had several Pampered Chef ones over the years that are pricey but I kept losing the cleaning tool which made them that much harder to keep clean. I also like that this one contains the grated/sliced garlic until you’re ready to empty it. Very handy and easy to store.

I thought this would be a handy size, but thebdesigb is not practical to use. And its even worse because The grater was not sharp enough and you had to apply a lot of pressure to grate the garlic. Shipping also took a long time...almost 10 days. I have returned the item but after nearly 2 weeks the seller has yet to process my refund.

I’m not a fan. Didn’t mice as well as I had hoped. I went back to my old one.
