Assimilating the best ideas from education research, this new edition provides enhanced problem-solving instruction, pioneering visual and conceptual pedagogy, the first systematically enhanced problems, and the most pedagogically proven and widely used homework and tutorial system available. Using Young & Freedman's research-based ISEE (Identify, Set Up, Execute, Evaluate) problem-solving strategy, students develop the physical intuition and problem-solving skills required to tackle the text's extensive high-quality problem sets, which have been developed and refined over the past five decades. Incorporating proven techniques from educational research that have been shown to improve student learning, the figures have been streamlined in color and detail to focus on the key physics and integrate 'chalkboard-style' guiding commentary. Critically acclaimed ‘visual’ chapter summaries help students to consolidate their understanding by presenting each concept in words, math, and figures. Renowned for its superior problems, the Twelfth Edition goes further. Unprecedented analysis of national student metadata has allowed every problem to be systematically enhanced for educational effectiveness, and to ensure problem sets of ideal topic coverage, balance of qualitative and quantitative problems, and range of difficulty and duration. This is the standalone version of University Physics with Modern Physics, Twelfth Edition. Review: Great reference for old, retired scientists - Nothing missing here - a solid first or second-year college text. Review: Decent Text - The text covers all the material in physics well and at a good pace. The material is not crammed or convoluted and there are plenty of examples to go along with the material. There are problems at the end of each chapter that are separated by section so you can focus on one topic, there are also mixed problems without labels so you can practice for exams, and a few challenge problems that are indeed quite challenging so all you physics geeks out there. In total there are about 100 to 110 problems at the end of every chapter (doesn't include the great examples within every chapter's reading). Reading this text allowed me to get an A in a physics course at Cornell with very little prior knowledge of physics. The only downside is if you buy all the volumes in one book, it is VERY large haha. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #535,418 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #782 in Physics (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 out of 5 stars 106 Reviews | ## Images ![University Physics with Modern Physics (12th Edition) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81kRv+LW9mL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great reference for old, retired scientists *by D***T on December 5, 2025* Nothing missing here - a solid first or second-year college text. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent Text *by S***D on June 20, 2011* The text covers all the material in physics well and at a good pace. It is a little large to carry around, but that is a small price to pay for an accessible way to learn calculus-based physics. Easily the best science textbook I've ever read or used. Five stars is not enough. ## Frequently Bought Together - University Physics with Modern Physics (12th Edition) - Thomas' Calculus - Advanced Engineering Mathematics --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/42699053-university-physics-with-modern-physics-12th-edition](https://www.desertcart.no/products/42699053-university-physics-with-modern-physics-12th-edition) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-10-09*
