Low quality components and batteries.
Like my MZ-switch, my first disintegrated, and then the MZ-Switch batteries failed. Poor quality batteries and components. My MZ1 then MZ 3 then Switch all died, while I still have my original Garmin. It is a pity my Gym uses the system, which is a great idea, but cheaply implemented.

My MyZone Switch is going on six years old, and the old charger was corroded from storing it with the thing before I dried it. It didnโt charge anymore. This fit my unit perfectly, and now I can charge it fully again.
