Review: Works as intended, and then some. - When I just got the dial, I was a bit hesitant about it. It was just a digital dial indicator. I decided to get a digital one because it's easier to read it than the analog one. And I was glad to get one that came with a stand as well. Let me start by telling you that the stand is very well built. When I took it out of the box, I wondered how come it only had one tightening knob, since my analog one had one in each joint. Well this one only has one knob and when you tighten it in the desired position, it tightens the three joints safely and securely. In addition, the dial portion of the stand has an additional knob that allows you to do smaller adjustments up and down to set up the dial. And the magnetic base holds the dial in place and won't let it move unless you apply a lot of strength to make it move. I tested it out as soon as I had a chance. So I set it up in one of the spare transmissions I have for my truck. I measured the backlash in the transmission with my analog dial first and it measured 0.007" in backlash. Then I swapped the analog dial with my new digital one. Well, to my surprise the digital dial measured 0.0065". So I measured it at least 10 more times to make sure I was getting an accurate reading with it. And each time it read the same measurement. So I am glad I got this digital dial because it's easier to read and a lot easier to set up. And apparently it seems to be more accurate than my analog one. One thing I don't like is that although it came with the plastic case for storage, it is very tricky to place the base in the box because it doesn't have a specific cut out for the base to make it fit into place easily. But once you try turning it in many different ways, it fits nice and neat. Other than that, it's a welt built unit and is working well for me so far. Would I recommend to my friends: yes because of its ease of use and cost compared to other similar dials. Would I buy it again: most definitely. One thing I liked the most: the base having a single knob to set it in place makes it easier to set it up once you get it in the shape you need. Something I don't like about it: the plastic storage case it comes with it. It's tricky to fit it in place. But it's nice to keep it from getting damaged which is what you want to do nevertheless.
Review: Decent gauge - I wish magnet was a bit stronger though - I used this to check rotor runout and while the magnet held in place on the spindle arm it never felt super-secure. Even so, it seemed to hold enough to get an accurate reading. Two caveats, if using on a surface with divots, holes or slots (My rotors are slotted), when the gauge tip hits the irregular surface it may be enough to knock the arms or base slightly out of alignment, throwing off the measurement. Also, pressing the button to zero the gauge can throw off the alignment as well, so be careful when doing so. These aren't deal-breakers, just things to be aware of. Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase and it saved me having to get them checked at a brake shop and trust their gauge/tech/ethics or replace the rotors because they "may" be warped. Considering my OEM rotors cost $1100 each to replace, buying a quality gauge was a must.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long is the stem? I am looking of 1" long stem**
A: The stem is 7/8" long and the shaft movement is 9/16"

**Q: Does reading return to zero after auto shut off or is the value held when gauge is turn back on?**
A: I just checked it out, 5 min showing a number on readout then it turned itself off, I pressed on button and it reset to a new zero. If possible, nudge it slightly to make numbers bounce on the DRO after a few minutes to keep it from turning off. Sorry. Auto shutoff is a PITA. Would be neat if they had a way to turn it off.

**Q: What is the stem diameter of the gauge? I need to ensure the gauge will fit in our current fixtures without modification.**
A: Hello, the top above the screen is 0.359", the two parts that below the screen are 0.3735" and 0.1765". Thank you

**Q: what is the thread & thread pitch of the end that goes into the mag base?**
A: M8 1.25 thread 8.6mm length of threaded shaft

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Accurate, Low Cost, Great Service
*by A***T on January 6, 2020*

I run a hobbyist manual mill and engine lathe; this indicator was purchased for hobby & light commercial use. The equipment came in a molded plastic carry case, with extra battery, additional mounting hardware, and instruction manual. This indicator and base have been great tools. The accuracy seems to match all my other measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, feed indicators, etc) within 0.001". Operates smoothly, doesn't hang, and reacts quick enough when doing a manual run out check. The battery has lasted over a year without replacement. One negative is that the indicator will auto turn off fairly quickly if there is no position change, which also resets zero. This hasn't been a problem for me, but if something is taking extra long on setup, then it may need accommodation. The base magnet is strong, no problems with it losing position, even when slightly bumped. The position arm copies other successful designs fairly well. The locking mechanism takes some elbow force to truly lock in tight, to where I can re-zero with a button push and doesn't change the indication. But once locked, it reliably holds position and doesn't creep or loosen. The short mounting stem over the spindle, sometimes causes interference with the locking knob on the arm, depending on how I am trying to orient and setup the measurement. Service: Within a year of purchase I lost the contact tip to the indicator, by my own fault. Clockwise does not sell the tips, so they provided me a new indicator free of charge.
