Bits are in base of handle so convenient and wont get lost. The black part that controls ratcheting is easily turned left or right to set ratchet direction just below the bit. It can be set so it doesnt ratchet which is the center setting. The bits held in magnetically. The orange is a hard plastic and black feels slightly more pliable for grip, but as others said i does kinda feel slippery although im using for simple jobs not heavy duty. You get what you pay for and this is a low cost item so i didnt expect anymore then this. Its perfect for my usage. So dont expect mechanic grade at this price point and you will be satisfied.
