My property is now cat free after 23 yrs of putting up with these cats!
I love the Yard Sentinel for all the cats that the neighbors let run wild in our neighborhood. It took about 2 weeks for all the cats to get the message to stay clear of my property. What was the most fun was watching the cats on my outdoor security cams about 3:00 am take their normal path through my property, until they ran into the yard sentinel, they couldn't get turned around and off my property fast enough. Now the cats don't even try to come on my property, they now walk all the way around and just look at my property, and still go to my neighbors on each side of me. I have mine set for night time only, and on sonic so I can hear it too, that way I know it's working. I love the the 30' A/C power cable that comes with it, so you don't have to worry about changing batteries, it works fine on either, you can also order a 65' power cable if you need one from Aspectek. Do not waste your money or time on the solar type, one cost as much as 2 of these type, and if you have several cloudy days they won't recharge or work at all. Now for the things I dislike. I don't like having to take the back cover off to do any adjusting of the unit when you are trying to get it set up, the alarm is screaming the whole time you are trying to get it back on, the hard plastic cover is really hard to get back on, also one of my units seems to be false triggering a lot when it rains, the other one does not. Update on my previous post. I have now been using my 2 Yard Sentinels for 7 months, and am having trouble with both, both will sometimes have loud volume, and then no volume, but the red light does come on, 1 of my units has now stop working on the electric power supply that comes with it, and will now only work on batteries

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, WON'T DETEER ANY PESTS-PERIOD!
Received the product on September 29, read the instructions and tips, etc. and did all that for 6 days and 5 nights. Cats & Dogs didn't slow down pissing on lawn, Squirrels had more parties with squirrel friends digging in my lawn, Single Raccoon left and brung back 2 more raccoons and went to neighbors yard and brung the neighbors dog toy to my yard before moving on. Skunks moved in slow motion as they normally do. My point is, product features work, but doesn't repell or slow down or deter the animals that i mention which come thru our neighborhood day in and day out. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

back access cover difficult to use.
pros: like the sensitivity and audible volume control ability and the nonsolar power so I can use in shaded areas. I ran extension cords to outdoor plug so plan to keep on thru the winter to deter deer from destroying my garden. Not using or relying on batteries. The audible screech carries 75 feet to back of house and windows, needed to be turned down and the control allows this :) Cons: the back panel is difficult to remove and replace and tends to warp the flange it covers due to very tight fit. Since the cover needs removed if any battery's changed or knob adjustments (above) . To attach to tree I used a bungee cord , wraps around front , no insertion site or flange on the box to hook into. I'd still order this , meets most of my needs and performing well thus far, deer are avoiding my yard since installed 2 devices.

Meh...mediocre product
I bought this for a variety of pest animals that I want to repel. I have rats that love to nest in the grill, crows that think my porch is their outhouse, and all manner of sea birds that turn my brown dock white. This item sounded like it would help with all of them. Overall, I have to say it does help. BUT...it has lots of issues. 1) It is NOT quiet. I have the sonic volume off and the unit set on continuous sweep so that it generates different "ultrasonic" frequencies intermittently in the hope that it drives away the aforementioned animals. Nearly every frequency is audible to the human ear and is quite annoying. 2) The plug/adapter design is just plain moronic. This is supposed to be used outdoors. Let's see... most outdoor outlets are in a weatherproof box that is generally the width of an outlet cover... so lets make the adapter horizontal instead of vertical! Brilliant! So subscribe and save the Amazon Basics C cell batteries! 3) In battery operation, the only way to turn it off is to take the batteries out. Because the plug can't be used in a weatherproof outlet box (see #2 above,) I have to use batteries. When anyone wants to use the pool or dock mentioned above, it is a pain in the rear (literally - it is a pain to open the rear cover of this unit) to take out the batteries so the people aren't driven away. Then once we're done playing in the area, back in the batteries go and then the finger numbing job of coaxing the cover back on. BUT... I do think I have LESS droppings on by deck and dock, and the rats don't seem to be nesting lately. I did buy a second set but it really is still up in the air if I would recommend them.

Works for whatever critters we have in our attic
Loud but seems to be working. The dritter(s) in the attic were unreachable... they didn't answer their cell phones (joke, ok?). I've found that subsonic things don't really seem to work so I turned on the audio. I didn't know what type of "critter" was in the attic so I used the setting that cycles through all the audio frequencies and sounds. It's loud even a half volume. I also didn't bother with the battery portion and just plugged it into an extension that I set up. It's blaring, and you can hear hints of it in the house now and then, and I'm hoping it doesn't stunt my growth, but the sounds of critter laughter and scampering have disappeared, almost entirely. I say almost because I think I get new critters that come in to see if they can stand the racket created by this Sentinel thing. Five stars from me. It's working. If it doesn't get rid of them, it will eventually get rid of me.

Didn’t work on deer or birds
I’ve been trying everything for years now to keep the birds out of my blueberries and the deer from destroying everything in my yard. There is not a spray, scent or decoy that I haven’t used. So I bit the bullet and bought 2 two packs to use in my yard. What I found was that they are easy to setup and seem to be pretty sensitive even at a lowest setting. What that means for you is that unless you’re using the plugin adapter, you’ll need stock in C-cell batteries. Last about three weeks max as the are constantly going off every time anything moves in the yard (leaves, you or anything else). I tried the settings with and without the added screech of a bird which I think would be better if it was a human voice or dog barking, but it was pretty annoying since it was constantly going off in 4 different areas of my yard all day and all night. So how did it work? Well if you consider that deer stood 10’ away from it while it was screeching, creating high pitched noises and a red light and the deer continued to eat my trees and plants. Didn’t bother them in the least. Birds, flew and ate berries on the bushes right in front of it as it was working. Needless to say, for me, they didn’t even bother the pest that I have. Very disappointed that I purchased these and wish that I’d saved my money, but getting really tired of the constant fight and destruction of my property. I live in the country, but near neighbors who feed and cherish the deer, so maybe the only thing left for me personally is the physical removal of the deer as they are nearly tame around here (until hunting season starts then they’re nocturnal), so if you are in the same situation as me, save your money as they are like everything else that just doesn’t work.

Does not work for deer or dogs.
Purchased and installed hoping that deer issue can be resolved. I was wrong. Deer are walking close to this unit without any discomfort. Dog ignores it as well. Changed settings and loudness but no result. Total waste of time and money

Unsure how effective
Definitely does not scare away cats, but it might actually work to annoy them enough to leave and not want to come back. My neighborhood has many cats and they are spraying on my outdoor patio set. My security cameras show cats walking past the devices but they haven’t sprayed in a few days and don’t seem interested in “hanging out” on my patio. The one night I left the devices unplugged, a cat sprayed on my bbq. No spray since being left on. It might be effective.. I have video evidence showing that all 4 cats walk right past the device without being scared, but none stayed around or explored. Also, make sure you read the settings, the high frequency noise is barely audible to me, but is annoying enough I will unplug it when I have people over, but not annoying enough that I will unplug it if it’s just me.

Limited use
Partially effective on some animals. Adaptor provided is of poor quality.

This does not work
Tried to get rid of pigeons but to no avail. They never moved. I tried all different settings and still no luck. To me, this was a total waste of money!
