The birds eat it from about May to July. It is sustenance for the young birds. The reason being they are advertised as saving packaging but the blocks come stuck together and fall apart when you try to separate them. However the birds love them! I had been buying the suet set in bamboo logs. So having thoroughly washed the log I packed and filled it with these crumbling blocks and the birds love it. The logs have been getting more and more expensive so refilling them with these blocks has lowered the price to £2 per refill rather than £5> per log.
