These pedals can be rebuilt, I've done it myself. **Q: Will they fit ynot straps?** A: For commuting, you absolutely can use straps with platform pedals -- indeed these pedals are specifically made to work with straps. I don't have specific experience with ynot straps, but looking at how they mate, its highly likely it would work. The gates straps from fyxation definitely work. **Q: How do these perform in the rain? Good traction?** A: Yes, very good traction in the rain. But, this could depend a little on the bottom of the shoe too. These are quite a bit larger than the generic pedals commonly seen on cheap bicycles. This makes for a comfortable pedaling even with soft soled shoes. The surface has small knobs to provide grip without being excessively rough. The threads easily turned onto the cranks with a little grease. The bearings seem to be of good quality and the pedals rotate easily. The holes in the side of the pedal are generously sized and make it very easy to install a foot strap.
