Safe for fish and plants when used as directed, it requires dosing every three days initially, then weekly maintenance. Trusted for nearly six decades, API ensures a clean, vibrant aquatic environment without harming wildlife. ## Description Fast-acting API POND ALGAEFIX Algae Control works to control algae growth in ponds, water gardens, and fountains, keeping water clean and clear. API POND ALGAEFIX Algae Control works to control Green or Green water algae, String or Hair algae and Blanketweed. Will not harm fish and plants when used as directed. API POND ALGAEFIX Algae Control is for pond and fountain use only, where water is contained without any outflow. Ponds must have adequate aeration to maintain sufficient oxygen levels for fish, especially in warmer weather. To determine accurate dosing for your pond size, measure the pond volume before use. Do not use with freshwater crustaceans, including shrimp, crabs, and lobsters. With API POND products, it’s easy to keep a beautiful pond. For almost 60 years API has developed premium solutions with proven and effective results for your family and ours. In hot weather, I have to go back to the first plan -- every three days. That type of use has not harmed the snails, fish, turtle, or frogs in the pond, but it does zap the algae quite well. I hope this helps. Oh, I put it in the pond in the early mornings, not when the sun is roasting. We are reaching 107 degrees here right now. I also insert the product where the stream flows into the pond so that the mix is dispersed quickly. I mix it in a small bucket of water before pouring it in the pond. **Q: Is it safe for water fowl, ex. duck, egrets?** A: It is toxic if not diluted; use as directed and mix in water in a container before adding to pond then is safe for anything! **Q: What will work in a water feature with two pumps, flow and two waterfalls. About 1000 gallons. Algae grows on the rocks.** A: The best thing I have used is algaefix. Follow the directions on the bottle. I use it about once every week to keep my 3000 gallon clean..... **Q: is this safe for birds?** A: I use this product 1x/week in summer. The fish need an extra oxygen source while this kills algae, for first 24 hrs after adding to water I make a point of keep filter on AND running fountain for O2 source. The fish all move to directly under the return line within an hour after treatment. Safe to koi, goldfish, pond turtles, the lizards and a crow.. have all survived a dip in treated water. Also, savvy pond shop guy told that once algae is under control, cut back on dosage and see how much you can decrease recommended treatment amount while still algae free, we can go from 1.75 cup to 1.15m so maintainence is @ 30% less. ## Frequently Bought Together - API POND ALGAEFIX Algae Control 32-Ounce Bottle, FISHAQUARI (169G) - API POND ACCU-CLEAR Pond Water Clarifier 32-Ounce Bottle - API POND-ZYME SLUDGE DESTROYER Pond Cleaner With Natural Pond Bacteria And Barley, 1-Pound Container --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/355072478-api-pond-algaefix-algae-control-32-ounce-bottle-fishaquari-169g](https://www.desertcart.no/products/355072478-api-pond-algaefix-algae-control-32-ounce-bottle-fishaquari-169g) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-10-08*
