I just received mine and they are definitely not white. they are cream almost beige. not happy

Opinions sought: Spread out completely to 12 x 17, thick enough to serve as a place-mat to cover serving trays from food spills? Thank you.

Yes, but it's not waterproof. They are absorbent, but the tray would still get damp. These are great for guest bathrooms, country club restrooms, restaurant restrooms etc.

Use for cleaning as paper towels in kitchen

Yes, it can be used in the kitchen. Thick and great quality with no lint residue, it's also great for picnics, trips and outdoor events, they don't blow away. Happy Cleaning!
