They've lasted for going on 20 years. We recently had to replace one section where squirrels had torn them up, but that was pretty easy. Trim with garden shears. Some stuff can get through--pine needles, dirt, grit from roof shingles. But we can clean the gutters when dry, using a leaf blower that blows right through the mesh.
