## Overview

ITC-100 HT Ceramic Coating is a high-temperature refractory coating rated up to 5000°F that reflects radiant heat to improve furnace efficiency, reduce fuel use, and extend refractory life. Ideal for home forges, kilns, and industrial furnaces, it protects against erosion, corrosion, and thermal damage while enabling faster heating and welding temperatures.

## Description

ITC 100 HT Ceramic Coating A versatile high temperature coating that is proven to achieve outstanding energy savings and refractory protection. It can be used alone or as a base coat for other ITC products. It is used as a covering for ceramic fiber insulation or castable refractory. Rated up to 5,000 degrees F, this material reflects radiant heat back into the furnace, kiln or forge to achieve high temperatures quickly and effectively.

Review: Great Stuff - This product really does work well if you apply it properly and most importantly let it completely dry. I will say I have only applied this product to hard and soft fire brick, so bare that in mind. I have in the past applied HT 100 with a spray gun, but if you go this route you must use a texture spray gun. A regular HVLP gun will clog instantly. I’ve stopped doing that now, I find it a bit messy. I simply apply it with a paint brush in a series of coats. I’ve seen several reviews where that customer has stated that the product burned up. If this product has even the slightest bit of moisture left in it, it will burn, crack, or flake right off. Let it dry for a minimum of 24 hours, but more like 48 is really needed in my opinion. Once it is dried and set, it’s a surprisingly robust material and should last for the life of the forge.
Review: Expensive but worth it! - This successfully raised the temperature of my custom-built ribbon burner forge by roughly 250 degrees so we can forge weld successfully in it! Love it! If I ever have to re-coat (which I may not have to since it is very durable) I will gladly buy more.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have 2 questions, what is the max high temp rating? How many square inches does a pint cover? Thanks Mike**
A: The temperature rating is 4500F+ and a pint will cover up to 12.5 square feet. Mixing ratio is 2 parts 100HT to 1 part H2O. -Justen Womack, ITC Coatings

**Q: Can this be applied directly to kaowool or do you need to coat with refractory cement first?**
A: Hello-
This can be directly applied to the Kaowool. We do recommend spraying on the application if possible but brushing it on will work just fine.

Thank you,

**Q: I was going to use a 2200° cement as well. Do i need the cement, ridgidizer and this?**
A: I used all three it was my first time using them the ridgidizer I found useless the cement is good if you need to biuld up some thickness the ITC=100Ht is a good overcoat as well it sticks to everything well and apples easy

**Q: Can you build forge with castable refractory and then apply this to be able to handle higher temps?**
A: The coating will increase the temperature of the forge. Using the castable refractory will make a heavy forge that will take more time, and more gas, to get upto heat than using manufactured 'soft' fire bricks. I used 2800 degree soft bricks (dry stacked within a frame), with a replaceable floor (on top of the soft bricks) of half thick hard bricks. Use of flux will make a sticky goo on the floor.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for my hard fire-brick forge.
*by J***L on September 22, 2019*

I built a propane forge using hard fire bricks, instead of soft fire bricks. Soft fire bricks reflect more heat, but they are more expensive and more fragile. Plus with concrete plants down the road, I got the hard bricks for practically nothing. Anyway, I seemed to be struggling losing a LOT of heat into the hard bricks before the entire forge got up to heat. So I bought this stuff and put it on the inside of the forge. It comes in a tub, almost like wet sand. Take it out, cut it with water, mix it up, and then paint it onto the surfaces of whatever you want. The proper material to water mixture seems rather thin, but it's what the manufacturer calls for. This stuff reflects SO much more heat back into itself than before. It was a great purchase.
