It's catches colors. You add it to your washer when washing new clothes or a load of colored clothes if you think the colors will run. I love these sheets! I've have never had an issue. Highly recommend. **Q: Can these be used in the dryer as a dryer sheet instead of putting them in the water?** A: I don’t feel that they, if your using them as intended to stop color transfer, would be effective.
