Review: Authentic Mexico ...a soulful visit, rather than just a beach vacation. - I love Lonely Planet Guides, and our family doesn't exactly like to do the most typical vacations. When we visited the Grand Canyon a few years back, we decided we would see the Seven Natural Wonders of the World ...all of them. Yes, the book was great for Puerto Vallarta, and we found a villa in a great converted mansion with lots of room for our stay. The real help, however, was our visit to the natural wonder: Paracutin, a volcano in the Central Western Highlands. This was not a highly-trafficked tourist destination, and Lonely Planet had all the best recommendations on how to get there (safely), where to stay, and restaurants. Considering our adventurous vacations, I wouldn't consider anything else but these guides for the true flavor of the destination. Susan

I used it on a 10-day trip and it covered everything I needed. Flew into Mexico City and did buses as far as Guanajuato, Oaxaca, and Coatzacoalos.

I love Lonely Planet Guides, and our family doesn't exactly like to do the most typical vacations. Most of the information in the book is accurate. I did find, however, that the writers stated that a mural in the Municipal Palace in Cordoba was painted by Diego Rivera and it is not one of his works. It is a very beautiful mural by another artist.
