Will this take a 17inch laptop ?

17inch laptop wow that's big, what I can tell you is mine at 13inch fits well, I would suggest you visit the web site as you need to add the laptop sleeve as the wheeler comes with a tool sleeve at the back, there is also the PRO Pac Tech XL.

What is the maximum height when the handle is fully extended pls? Im 6'6'' and need to know if this will be high enough. Thanks.

The handle height is 24” (61cm) from bottom to top of when extended

So does this come with the back pack straps or not as it says optional? are they to be puchased separately

The shoulder straps are included.

Does this have a compartment for laptop/tablet?

No the laptop panels are not a standard feature. The laptop panels are available separately
