Spec says 25.2dba noise level. (I have a 1621+ rated at 25.2dba sitting two feet from me and it is whisper quiet). When I started the RP1221+ it was way, way louder than 25.2dba. I checked the settings and it was on Cool Mode (medium speed). To test it I switched it to Full Speed Mode and the fans went to max speed and sounded like a small wind storm (which is expected). I switched it back to Cool Mode and the fan noise dropped noticeably but still way noisier than 25dba. I switched it to Quiet Mode (slowest fan speed) but the fan speed did not change. I switched back and forth between Cool Mode and Quiet Mode but it always stayed the same. I only had one single SSD drive installed. The room temp was cool at about 68F. This is too noisy for me and I will have to return this and get another 1621+. Hope this helps. **Q: Is this 10GB?** A: If you are asking about 10GbE (10Gb Ethernet) support, no by default. The RS1221+/RS1221RP+ have 4-ports of 1GbE with the option to install a PCIe card that supports 10GbE (sold separately, of course). **Q: how deep is it?** A: 11.75" Deep, 17" Width without Ears, 19" with Ears, 3.5" Height **Q: Can i use non-synology branded hard drives with this nas?** A: sure. you can ## Frequently Bought Together - Synology 8 Bay RackStation RS1221+ (Diskless) - Synology 10Gb Ethernet and M.2 Adapter card E10M20-T1, RJ-45; 1 port - A-Tech 32GB (2x16GB) RAM Replacement for Synology D4ECSO-2666-16G, D4ES01-16G | DDR4 2666MHz PC4-21300 ECC SODIMM 2Rx8 1.2V Memory Upgrade for NAS DiskStation, RackStation, FlashStation, & NVR DVA --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/314977623-synology-8-bay-rackstation-rs1221-diskless](https://www.desertcart.no/products/314977623-synology-8-bay-rackstation-rs1221-diskless) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-11-07*
