Pro Tech Toolkit

This kit is expensive and worth every penny. I am not in IT, but I suspect I have as many tech items in my home as most average adults, as well as lots of gear. Something around here always needs a repair, whether a Ring doorbell or a kitchen gizmo or a tool or a phone case or modifiable knife sheath. This kit is now my go-to for everything. I have other kits with as many or more bits, but this has had every single one I have needed, plus it is well made, well organized, and of better quality than any of the others. It’s a pure pleasure to use and makes every repair easier and less daunting.

My Mid-2014 MacBook Pro was about to set the house on fire every time I had a Zoom meeting. The fan spun up like a jet engine, and thermal throttling was choking the CPU so that my video and audio became un-synced during meetings. After seeing a few videos online about how to clean the dust out of an old Mac, and how to replace the dried out thermal paste, I decided to DIY it. I looked at some of the cheaper took kits on Amazon, but decided on this one since it's an American company and seemed to be most complete. I also really liked the fact that iFixit has complete tutorials available on their website and also sells common replacements for computer consumables. The iFixit Pro tool kit has some really exceptional features, such as a magnetized base that the bit box clamps to, which the sorting tray in the roof of the box can then be set on, so it becomes magnetized. The metal driver feels solid and comfortable and magnetizes the bits. The additional tweezers, spudgers, pry bars, etc. are all useful, and the anti-static wrist strap is well made. The foam that the bits seat into has the name of each bit embossed into it, and the slots for the bits are shaped such that the bit can be rocked forward so you can tell which ones are still in use, even though they're put away. The bits fit very precisely into the screws and I had no trouble at all getting any screw loose. For getting an old Mac cleaned out and running like new again, this tool kit is flat out worth the money. Now I see that my old Mac's battery is nearing time for replacement: with the iFixit Pro tools and their tutorials and parts, I have the confidence to tackle that job when the time comes.

Oh my word, where do I even begin? This is hands down my favorite tool kit and, in my opinion, the best repair toolkit available for working on laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other electronics. The quality is exceptional. Every tool feels precise, durable, and thoughtfully designed. The kit includes virtually everything needed for disassembling and repairing modern electronic devices, all neatly organized in a compact and highly portable case. I have used many tool kits over the years, and this one stands above the rest. If you regularly work on computers, tablets, or mobile phones, this is the gold standard and well worth the investment. It is not the cheapest option, but the quality and versatility justify every penny. Outstanding value for the money and one of the best tools I have ever purchased.

I have a 10-year old Dell laptop that needed fixing. It started with a hard drive failure. So, I decided to replace the hard drive instead of buying a new laptop. In addition, I needed to replace the keyboard and power button and cable that were giving me problems. This toolkit was perfect for my needs. The laptop, itself has lots of screws that needed to be removed to open up the computer. Also, the keyboard needed to be removed to fully get to the inside of the computer. This toolkit had all that I needed to remove the components of the laptop. Contrary to other reviewers, I found the screw driver bits to be magnetic, which was a big bonus given the small size of the screws and deep recesses to where they attach to the computer. The kit has plenty of driver bits for almost any job. I found that they were quality made and did not strip the screw or the driver head, itself. It also contains some pry tools, suction cups (good for mobile phones), and an anti-static strap that you should use to avoid any electrostatic charges that could wreck your components. All-in-all, this toolkit gave me everything I needed to repair my laptop. Instead of spending $2000 on a new laptop, I purchased a new 1 TB hard drive for $50, a new keyboard for $25, and a new power button and cable for another $25. Add to that the price of this toolkit, and I spent a total of $150 to repair my laptop. It took just an hour or so of my time to install the new hardware and to install a clean version of Windows 10 from a USB drive. Now, my laptop is running like new and should last another 10 years or so. This is a quality repair kit and well-worth the money, even though I did not find the cost to be expensive in the first place.

This iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit is a must-have for any retro gamer who enjoys repairing and maintaining old consoles and handhelds. It includes a great variety of precision bits and useful tools for opening and working on devices such as Game Boy, GameCube, NES, SNES, and other electronics. The tools feel well-made and are neatly organized in the case, making it easy to find the right bit when needed. It’s especially useful for cleaning, replacing batteries, fixing buttons, and performing general maintenance on vintage gaming hardware. If you’re into retro gaming and like to repair or mod your own consoles, this is definitely a toolkit worth having.

Super nice tool kit for working on electronics. While it isn’t inexpensive, it is a very complete kit that’ll get you into almost anything. The case is very well organized and makes the set super portable. With care, I expect it to outlast me.

Husband loves it! Says it's a good quality set and worth getting over some of the cheaper sets he had seen. As a beginner, he fixed his phone screen first try within an hour.

Packaging Quality: 3/5 Tool Quality: 4.5/5 Tool Variety: 5/5 Case Quality: 2/5 Overall: The kit is great for what it was designed to do; which is to give you just about everything you'd need to get in and work on laptops, cellphones, and other electronic devices. The case is also designed to be convenient. It's very easy to get things out and to put them back in their designated slot. Unlike many tool kits, you're not going to open this up and find things ready to fall out or rolling around in different places if you put them away properly. What could be improved: Ship in boxes, not paper/plastic envelopes; improve case craftsmanship; improve case quality control; improve storage of anti-static strap using some sort of hard shell; add an additional suction cup. Packaging Quality: The packaging is pretty good. It consists of a hard front-loaded box and a slide-over cardboard label. There's nothing special about it, but it looks nice and provides adequate protection for the actual product. The reason I gave this a 3/5 is because the shipping method. I've received two of these, one came in an Amazon branded plastic envelope while the other came in a manila paper envelope from iFixIt. In both instances, the product's packaging was damaged during shipping. While the product itself remained seemingly undamaged, seeing the product's box with smash corners isn't the most reassuring thing. Tool Quality: Most of the tools are absolutely great. The screwdriver and provided bits seem to be sturdy and well made. Likewise, the Tweezers, opening pics, and spudgers all feel great. The only complaint I have is that wire on the anti-static wrist strap feels like a cheap slippery plastic. Tool Variety: This has just about everything, really. The only thing I wish they would have done is included two suction cups instead of one. My turning the elastic bands to the side and moving them over, they would have had room for both of them in the case too. Case Quality: This is my biggest gripe about this toolkit. I don't know if I just have bad luck, but the first kit I got had a tear in the upper-left corner near the magnetic plate (under the 64 bit driver kit) and in the second kit the top appears stretched out of shape a bit with what appears to be the start of a tear in the top left. I believe this happens because they cut the material without adding any sort of trim and stitching around the cut. Likewise, there are various other areas where the case has bad stitching, loose hanging threads, and overlapping trim. For such a nice quality set, the case seems less than expected. However, it's still a great bargain considering all that you get for $60. My only other complaint about the case is with the anti-static strap. Getting it back in its storage pocket in a manner that allows the case to close properly is annoying. I'd have liked to see a hard-shell to help keep the anti-static strap compact or a hard case for the entire kit.

Kit has more tools than you'll ever need for basic electronic servicing. Came in handy for my pc builds or laptop battery replacements. LTT wishes they could make something like this
