Review: Nice quality hinges - These hinges work great in my application: as vertical hinges on the door of my homemade galley box for my dinghy cruiser (sailboat). The retraction is quite strong, holding the door (5/32 plywood, approximately 7 inches wide by 8 inches tall) firmly against the door stops when closed, and strong enough to support a small pan or kettle on the door when it is open. I wish I could share pictures, but the box is currently disassembled for finishing. I'm sure that woodworkers and hobbyists could find many applications for these hinges, for cabinet doors and such. Nice quality.

**Q: how do you get them to move? are they locked somewhere?**
A: You holding them from the plates where the screw holes are and you'll be able to snap them into the closed position. You won't be able to if you try to bend them with your thumbs on the raised center of the hinge.

**Q: mine do not move no matter where you hold them-tried it all. they do not close.will have to take them to the hardware store and find out**
A: The hinges go the opposite direction I thought they would. Once I figured that out m, they were easy to open. Hold the mounting plates with fingers on top and thumb on furthest edge on both sides. Push with thumb underneath and hinge will open on opposite side.

**Q: Will a push to open latch work or are these hinges too stiff?**
A: Although stand alone, out of the package, they are stiff. Once you attach them to a door they become manageable.   The smaller/lighter weight the door the more snap upon closing.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent, Sturdy, Tricky To Install

Much the same as many reviewers have noted. 1) These come without instructions. Go to the product listing and look at the photos carefully to figure it out. You may want to temporarily screw them to two pieces of scrap wood to see just how they work and for spacing. 2) It may seem at first that they don't work and won't bend. They will, but when they aren't attached to anything you don't have much leverage, and the way they bend is a little inobvious. You *can* open and close them with just your fingers (but don't get pinched), but it may take some fooling around to figure it out. 3) They come with non-ideal screws. You really want pan-head screws about the same size. 4) These are not 'normal' hinges! These are hidden hinges and/or for situations where one moving part needs to be extended outward to clear the non-moving part. If you're not sure why you need this specific type of hinge, odds are good that this isn't the type of hinge you need. I've installed them, though, and they work fine, and they seem sturdy. Price is good. Packaging, etc, not so good. I'd buy them again if I needed more, but it helps that I've got some practice with these now.
