I plan to hard wire it but also want battery backup for power failure. Will it stay charged?** A: Just to clarify for anyone asking about charging and hard wiring, the rechargeable battery if fitted will be charged by a suitable plug in charger it doesn’t have to be the solar charger. Also to answer a point made elsewhere, the rechargeable battery will still function and light the dusk to dawn feature in the event of a power cut so that is why it is useful even if the unit is hard wired. Why Ring don’t make this clear is a mystery to me? **Q: What is the expected battery life using the 3 x D cell batteries?** A: Hi there This is dependent on your individual situation and usage of Ring Alarm Outdoor Siren. The expected battery life is 3 years under typical conditions. -Ring **Q: Is this alrm to detect attempts of outdoor or indoor burglars/thieves? I am confused by the title decribed.** A: This is a outdoor siren, the alarm sound will sound when the alarm indoors has been triggered I.e. motion detected or door/window contact broken. (Note alarm will need to be on for the system to work as designed). The siren is there to notify and deter anyone within the area **Q: Do ring provide the power adaptor for the outside alarm** A: No, it needs a 12v Dc charger but you can use a none ring one and such are cheap on amazon to buy at Β£12ish. However you need to cut the plug off the end so you can fix the wires to the ring terminals and identify the + positive wire which is normally the wire with a white dash line along it, but best to test with a multi meter firstly.
