This controller is designed to automate the start and stop operations of an electric pump in relation to a drop in pressure (opening the taps) and stopping the flow through the system (closing the taps) respectively. In addition, it stops the pump when the water flow is insufficient, prevent if any damaging dry operation. It can be used with water systems with sediment-free water. In case it is not possible. **Q: Will this work to activate a pump that draws water from a natural well? The property does not have mains water**
A: Can’t see why it shouldn’t, I have no mains water, I have a storage tank and it works great. It starts the pump up when there is a drop in pressure ie: when someone opens a tap on the positive side. Then the pump shuts off when the pressure has built back up.

**Q: would this switch a Solar 24V DC  pump ? does it purely respond to water pressure i.e. is it mechanical or does it also need mains to operate?**
A: Sorry I never bought it in the end. I use some other pump.
