Best thing in the world!! Slightly acquired taste.
This stuff is a miracle! I've always wished there was just a pill I could take or something so I wouldn't have to worry about eating. I've never had a problem eating too much, my problem was finding the time/motivation to eat enough that I didn't feel tired! It's such a pain, who wants to take HOURS out of every single day to shop, prepare food, eat the food, and clean up the mess? I don't! Before Soylent I mostly ate cereal, frozen food and take out. I'm a picky eater and trying to come up with something that sounded good to eat every day was almost becoming a point of anxiety for me. I had begun counting my calories to see if I was eating enough and discovered I was getting maybe 800-1000 calories in an average day. I'd work all day and at 8pm desperately try to eat a day's worth of food all at once but just couldn't consume enough in one sitting. Now, since it takes no time or effort to prepare my food I can take in meals throughout the day, like a normal person, and I feel so much better! More energy and my skin has improved. Now, onto the serious matter of taste. When I first began Soylent they only had original flavor and I practically gagged my way through the first bottle. I was bitterly disappointed and couldn't imagine drinking 4-5 a day. I did some research and decided to try adding a little chocolate Nesquick to it. That worked great! I blew threw a can of Nesquick in under a month and when it ran out, I tried it plain again and discovered the original flavor wasn't so bad anymore. It just took a little getting used to. I still occasionally add strawberry or chocolate Nesquick to my original bottles, but it's not really necessary. Like some other people, I hated the Nectar at first sip. It tasted like floral perfume in my mouth, it was awful. But a couple bottles in, I found myself liking it and for a while it was even my favorite flavor. Similar to the Nectar, the Cacao wasn't great when I first tried it either. I thought it was too nutty and had a fake chocolate taste. That quickly changed and now it tastes like a perfect chocolate milk and is hands down the best flavor available. If I were to introduce a friend to Soylent, I would start with Cacao, I've also tried the powder and really really wanted to like it, but seriously couldn't handle the taste. I figured it would be an acquired taste for me, like the other flavors, but after a day and half of plugging my nose to chug the stuff and then trying to rinse the taste out of my mouth afterwards, I just gave up on it. I felt like I could taste wallpaper paste all day and night after a glass of Soylent powder! Other stuff: SALT. This one is kind of important. Soylent is very low sodium, which is good for you, but can make you crave salty foods, especially at first. I started craving potato chips and fries like crazy. Which was fine by me, I wasn't trying to restrict my diet, so I just ate some chips. But I eventually found it was cheaper/easier/better to just add a pinch of salt to a bottle now and then. Plus after 6 months or so the salt cravings are mostly gone, but I still enjoy some saltine crackers as my snack most days. OTHER FOOD is amazing when you drink 90% Soylent. I usually drink 4 bottles a day + a snack to reach about 1800 calories. All sorts of food are just bursting with flavor now! A sip of juice is like eating a delicious fruit candy drink. I don't feel deprived at all, I feel like I am able to appreciate all the little nuisances of taste and flavor, that most people so used to they don't even notice. The only bad bit: I'm addicted! I HAAAATE running out of Soylent and would pay a premium to go buy a case locally once in a while, when I am stupid and forget to re-order in time. When I have to switch back to 'regular' food, I feel sick. It's probably because I am pretty much dumping poison into a body that is used to a near-perfect balanced diet that is always the same. Running out of Soylent for me usually means starvation followed by pizza, burgers and frozen chicken nuggets, followed by diarrhea, lethargy and mood swings. :(

Detailed Overview of Experience and Thoughts
INTRO: Soylent is great. I have only been using it for 15 days now on a 95% Soylent-only diet. I'm consuming it at a calorie-deficit 1,500-1,600 kcal/day between this, the bottled 2.0 version, and the powdered version which I subscribe to on their official site (because any listing for it on Amazon at this time is NOT official and way overpriced; Soylent is only sold officially on Amazon in the 2.0 bottled form). I am a male in my mid-30's. I work a desk job so I sit for some 50+ hours/week, though I ride my bike a few times each week and ride anywhere from 20-100 miles each ride. My more common rides are closer to 20-25 but I've already done several century (100 mile) rides this season since February. I have not ridden a century yet since starting Soylent but I have ridden a couple of 80-82 milers and on those rides yes I do consume some Gu energy gels and Clif Shot Bloks to make up for my low 1,500 kcal base. USES: It should be noted that Soylent does not have to be a 100% meal replacement for extended periods of time, such as weeks or months. It is not a 'diet' in and of itself but, like any other food, it can be used as a diet and many have done just that. It is specifically made to be everything your body needs both micro and macro-nutrient-wise and nothing more. It is made to be a convenient, all-encompassing meal replacement and nothing more than that. Some people use it just for 1-2 meals/day when it's not convenient to go out or prepare something. Others use it for all meals each day, and even for extended periods without problems. TASTE: It tastes bland and 'neutral' as they call it. It does not taste bad to me, but it certainly doesn't taste 'great' or 'delicious', though again, it's not supposed to. Myself and most others have no problem with the taste at all and find it easy to drink. Some find it too difficult to drink so they either chug it or flavor it. Myself, I have tasted much worse and actually repulsive drinks in my time and Soylent doesn't even come close to tasting bad or disgusting. Since it is a neutral taste, it does lend itself well to flavorings. You can find loads of different 'recipes' to flavor your Soylent in a simple Google search. TEXTURE: The 2.0 bottled form, which is this Amazon listing, is very smooth with almost no particles or resemblance of texture. The powdered form has quite a bit. It is fairly thick for a drink, similar to the consistency of milk I would say in the 2.0 form and more like a malt or shake in the powdered form. COST: First let me say that if you subscribe to a case of Soylent here on Amazon at least 5x then you get 15% off each case, which is cheaper than on the official Soylent website! Now with that out of the way, it may seem expensive but when you add up how much you spend on your average restaurant meal or on weekly groceries it really isn't that bad. Your average 'meal' of Soylent is far less than your average meal at a restaurant, and a good amount less than what you'd spend on groceries to make a healthy meal. FINAL THOUGHTS: I can't recommend Soylent enough. I still love food and always have, and I don't think that will ever go away. I am not committed to living on 100% Soylent the rest of my life and I don't think anyone should be. Food is enjoyable and very social. Soylent is much less so in both departments. Where it does shine, however, is in it's convenience factor. At work I take two bottles for 800 kcal. I am able to 'eat' (really, drinking) my lunch at my desk while able to get more work done. I'm also able to monitor my caloric intake with ease and between that and my exercise I've lost 10 pounds in the two weeks I've been using it. Give Soylent a try-- If it interests you at all after reading what I've had to say, I don't think you'll be disappointed in the slightest!

My favorite of all the meal replacement shakes
I've been drinking Soylent since the early/mid-2010s, and am deeply nostalgic for the original flavor as a result. This doesn't taste like that, but it's still pretty good. I think Soylent Original is the best-tasting Meal Replacement Shake on the market, everything else is generally too sweet by a long shot. The closest alternative to Soylent is Huel Powder - their RTD version is also too sweet - and I prefer Soylent Powder to the RTD, but I must admit I am much more likely to drink the bottles than mix the powder on the average day. I think it's fine as a meal replacement. I don't feel much healthier when drinking it than not, my gastric processes are all about the same. It's reasonably light as a meal - better than many kinds of breakfast and lunch, especially if you are sensitive to abdominal fullness - and it doesn't leave a residue or film on the tongue. I typically look forward to the Soylent, and I really appreciate how easy it makes meal prep, for the nutrition it offers. Notably, I can't really have Soylent regularly anymore because I'm on a restricted sodium diet, and there's enough in a single bottle that it throws my numbers off for the day. It isn't overbearing, but it is a lot. I still have a bottle now and again, but it is not longer a regular part of my diet. My major complaint is the price. It is expensive now relative to ten years ago, and I don't like it. The powder is okay - about $3/serving, but the RTD is pricey at $4/meal. That is the biggest barrier to my buying it regularly. What I need to do, I think, is buy a 12pk of RTD, drink them, then wash them thoroughly and refill them with a single-serving of powder, then add water at the time of consumption. This way I can get near the convenience of the RTD while maintaining the price advantage of the powder. So I am biased due to nostalgia, but I have tried many other options and this remains my favorite even after ten years. I always recommend people at least give it a try, if they have any interest whatsoever, I think it's worth the investment.

Basically i haven't eaten food for 1.5 YEARS thx to Soylent!
First off thanks to Amazon for now giving me free same day! Ive been on Soylent for a year and a half! I simply cant thank Soylent enough. Two words. Life changing. Im a busy IT professional and I have always hated vegetables to boot. This resulted in eating like utter $&@! my entire life. If the recipe was more than push 3 on the microwave i didnt eat it. Low energy. Lots of cakes and sweets. Poor nutrition. I was honestly on a path to disease and death. Got sick yearly. Soylent is an actual meal REPLACEMENT. Not suppliment. Ensure etc are supliments. 400 calories and one fith of ur daily nutrition in each one. I was never fat really because ive always had a fast metabolism but i was chubby for sure. Got sick a lot. Low energy. I mean at times so low I felt as tho it was an effort to breathe. Always hungry too but no appetite because i ate $&@!. Truly poor quality of life. I knew it was because of my diet. I always ate terribly even as a kid. Im 48 now. But I neither had the time nor taste to eat better. Along comes Soylent a year and a half ago(as far as when i started...its been around slightly longer) I almost exclusively drink Soylent and have for over a year! I eat maybe a couple times a week. Sometimes two or three weeks. Not because I force myslef to btw. I prefer to drink a Soylent over eating! I eat more for social reasons than anything. Sometimes I go weeks without eating. I PREFER Soylent. When I do eat it's because of a craving and usually its a top notch restaurant with my girl or friends. On rare occasions its because i just want something warm and solid and evem then i go all out. Thats so rare though. The little I do eat it really doesnt matter how bad for me the food I choose is either. So i go for it when i do eat. Imagination run wild and for pure sensation without guilt:) Wether its sugary fatty whatever. It doeant make a difference because the rest of the time im taking in what i need to without the bad stuff i shouldnt be. Benefits.....higher energy level. I dont need to drink anything with caffeine anymore. Not coffee or soda or anything caffeinated. Body fat of 16% and a flat stomach. NEVER had a flat stomach my whole life! NEVER hungry. The HUGE amount of time I save. If you add up how much time u spend buying food..... Thinking about what to buy. Putting it away. Thinking about what to cook or where to eat. Cooking it. Eating it. Cleaning up. Driving to restaurants. Driving to buy it. Checkput Lines. Filling carts. Deciding on restaurants. Total time you save a year according to my own personal calculations is 40 days a year or 960 hours! Thats a really conservative eatimate imo. Thats about 2.63 hours a day! What could you do with an extra 960 hours? 40 days, more than a month or almost 6 weeks? A great deal im sure. The taste is neutral or tastless(I jave not tried the flavors other than coffee and that was good but i just dont need flavoring) Its bland yes. When u drink it seconds later u could forget u just had something in ur mouth. Why is this a good thing? Well imagine your favorite flavor. Now imagine eating it everyday multiple times a day. It being neutral you never get sick of it. And i dont. When i need calories i crave Soylent now. My brain has re-associated and adapted that mechanism of survival to crave Soylent to obtain my nutrition and calories when they are needed. I should mention that my bathroom habits haven't changed;) I always get asked that when i tell people I basically dont eat or only eat a cpl times a week. Dont ask me how a liquid goes in and a solid comes out because i cant quite figure that out either. I assume it has to do with fiber but i really dont know. Calorie for calorie its cheaper and contains better nutrition. Food for me is recreational now. Think about ur life. When u eat how often is it something thats amazing and exactly what u want. More often than not its whatever is convenient and that doesn't usually go along with great for u. Its somethimg u just have to do. Mostly. Well i ONLY eat when its amazing and the rest of the time i'm getting perfect nutrition and not wasting time doing something mundane for lack of a better word:) People always say to me.....eating is something thats such a pleasure tho...dont u miss it? Yeah it absolutely can be. But honestly when ur at Mcdonalds is that a true pleasure or experience in taste? No. Not for me. My blood work reflects my sentiments btw and went from extremely high triglycerides and cholesterol to everything being perfectly in line! I used to suffer from occasionally bouts of depression. Nothing serious. Never needed meds or anything. More from always being exhausted and fighting just to do my daily grind. That hasnt happened since i switched to Soylent! Not once. Not once! Coincidence? Maybe. But nutrition is very much connected to low energy and depression. Soylent..... from the heart, I cannot thank u enough. You not only changed my life, you gave me one. After a year and a half I cannot say enough, thank you enough, nor recommend you enough. Loyal customer for life........ Note: Drink water! It takes more water to digest it then it contains so you still should drink water! May also wanna take a cpl fiber pills occasionally. The water is a must tho. Thats probably why i read one review saying his energy level dropped. Dehydration.

Replaced high quality ingredients with corn and paper
Soylent started off with high quality, nutritious fiber—oat fiber—and replaced it with cheaply sourced, low-grade corn fiber and cellulose, the primary component of cotton and paper. They also replaced the high-quality, slow-metabolizing sugars isomaltulose and isomaltooligosaccaride with allulose—a cheap, wheat-derived monosaccharide sweetener that is known to cause abdominal discomfort, flatulence and diarrhea. They had loudly and proudly touted the health benefits and taste of the high quality ingredients on their website, before one day silently changing the formula and updating their website to ignore the corn, paper and wheat ingredients they chose to replace them with. In my opinion, that’s a huge betrayal of their stated mission and customers. I relied on Soylent for a long time due to complicated GI health issues because it was a healthy, well-rounded meal in a bottle that didn’t have any of the cheap, garbage ingredients that so many of these products have, or ingredients from corn, wheat or milk, which I have had serious issues with. Then one day I received a box in which every bottle tasted funny, was thinner than it had been, and caused severe discomfort. I thought I had a spoiled batch. But when the second one was the same, I checked the ingredients and realized I had been subject to bait and switch. Soylent wouldn’t refund or apologize or explain the formula change, and Amazon wouldn’t take back the ones I bought from here. Needless to say, I will never buy Soylent again. This company chose to take a scummy, profit-maximizing corporate strategy instead of continuing to do right by their customers or live up to the values they say they guide themselves by. Research these ingredients to make sure they work for you before you subject yourself to this unpleasant trash. Especially if you’re sensitive to corn or wheat, or don’t feel like consuming paper for your meals.

I love Soylent, and am apparently addicted to it.
I've now consumed six bottles of twelve. I arrived home after a long day at work and I was a bit hungry and I knew my first ever box of Soylent was at my doorstep. I tore open the box and went right to it. I didn't love it. In fact, after a few sips, I actively disliked it. I put it in the fridge and then went to bed. Darn. After I woke up, I had an incredibly strong craving for Soylent. What? Alright, so I went to the fridge and finished off the bottle I had started before bed. Wow, that was great! It actually tasted good. And it still does. Only the first few sips were not awesome. Maybe it just wasn't cold enough. I don't know why, but I crave this stuff constantly. I bought this as a breakfast replacement (or a breakfast at all, since I refuse to otherwise eat actual breakfast) and I'm going to consume it that way. But I certainly would be okay with 3+ bottles/day of Soylent and then one single normal meal for lunch or dinner. It absolutely might be coincidence (or placebo effect), but since I started drinking Soylent, I've started feeling better. I feel like I have more energy than usual. This weekend I did a lot of chores where normally I'd waste my weekend being sluggish and whiny. I didn't quite feel the need to veg out after a long week. I imagine this means that there's some vitamin or nutrient or something that's missing in my diet that Soylent is able to provide. What is it? I don't know. Again, this could be coincidence or placebo. It's not simply the fact that I'm eating a breakfast each morning as I've done that in the past with little obvious benefit. And it's not that I usually lack in food, because I certainly don't (in fact, I probably eat too much food as it is). My current guess is that 1) I'm missing something in my diet that I need and Soylent is providing it and 2) that missing thing is the thing I crave and I'm already associating that thing with Soylent, hence the apparent strong craving for Soylent. Or maybe it's really made of people and this batch of people just happened to have some addictive drugs in it. But, you know, probably not. I already bought another box. It's more expensive than I'd like it to be, but I'm willing to give it another go anyway. EDIT: Actually, I've gone through maybe six or seven or eight boxes now. Still love it. The Coffiest one is good too, if you like cream in your coffee. EDIT: And now I'm at around my 12th box or so. I've moved to a three box subscription on Amazon. Still loving it. Try the Cacao flavor if you want some chocolate cereal flavored milk. I personally prefer the plain Soylent. I do NOT like the Nectar flavor. It's a bit like Fruity Pebble milk. BTW here's a tip: first run your finger around the bottle neck to pierce the perforation around the neck. And then after that peel off the plastic from the top. If you do it the other way around, it's very annoying and sometimes ends with plastic in your mouth or all of the plastic being removed from the bottle. Both are unwanted situations.

Flavor could use some fine tuning
I have been wanting to try Soylent for a while now, but because the company doesn't sell individual or muli packs I was hesitant to buy $35-$40 worth without having a real idea of what it tastes like. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews. A few weeks ago I took the plunge, purchasing the coffiest flavor. I'm a student studying to be a nurse and I wasn't able to have a coffee and breakfast before clinical. I'll talk about coffiest later but it's mostly the best thing ever. As for the original flavor. Its ok. For me the best way I could discribe the flavor is flour and water with a hint of vinnila. They say people's taste buds are as individual as a finger print so your experience may be different; the original does not taste like almond milk or milk after cereal. Its not terribly off putting and probably something one could get used to. The coffiest flavor is all around much better. However, the texture is an improvement over what coffiest has. The original is smooth and thinner. Maybe just a hint thicker than a 1% milk but not quite a 2%. There is also no after taste for me. Coffiest on the other hand tastes like a chocolate protein drink with coffee grounds. I happen to love the flavor. It is much more chocolatey than I had anticipated. It is also a bit thick. Maybe the consistency of a whole milk or a real chocolate milk. For me, coffiest also leaves a chalky texture in my mouth and has an odd after taste. It's not gross but I am a little nervious that it gives me some weird breath smells at work. I recommend drinking water or brushing your teeth after drinking it. I definitely enjoy the cafeine in coffiest. As a avid coffee drinker I can feel that there is a good boost of coffee but it's no express shot. It's more subdued. Both coffiest and the original Soylent flavors hold me over for about a meal. Maybe a few snacks are needed but it's a pretty effective meal replacement. One at 6am holds me over till noon. One at noon holds me over till about 4.

Very filling 400 calories for only $2.40 a bottle on Subscribe & Save....what a deal!
This stuff is great. You can probably consider it the Cadillac of soy milks and it wouldn't be far from the truth. The beauty of this is that it's ready to go, anytime, anywhere. It has a high amount of healthy fats so it's very satisfying. I mean this will kill your appetite with just half a bottle. At least it does me. I've yet to be able to consume a whole bottle in one sitting. So I really get my money's worth. The consistency is a little thick, which is probably why it's so filling, but it puts some people off. If you don't like it as thick as it is just dilute it with water. I use a 1:1 ratio of cold water when I use this over cereal or just want a drink. It makes it equal to 2% milk in consistency, which is what most of us are used to when drinking milk. So no more "thickness." If you did that routinely, you could get twice the product for your money. Just a suggestion. But it's up to you how you want to use it. As a meal replacement, I'd leave it as is. I honestly don't crave food when I'm having this stuff. It has become the only thing I consume after a certain time of day and I don't miss the food at all. I haven't checked my blood values but my CHO is chronically high, so I'm dying to see if it's improved. I'll add a comment in the future if there's any improvement, which by the way, there should be, since soy proteins are shown to lower cholesterol levels already. So I'm thinking it's going to help. It certainly can't hurt since I'm replacing full fat milk here... Also, it's vitamin and mineral fortified. I feel good on this stuff. Strong and healthy. NO blood sugar swings like I always get with even sugar free protein shakes, which means no jitters and mental weirdness (you know what I mean, the hypoglycemic equivalent of dementia, temporary but just as annoying). I love this stuff so much I get it with Subscribe & Save through Amazon. It's about a third cheaper (works out to about $2.40 a bottle. Try to find 400 calories of solid nutrition for that amount of money any place else, I dare you). Remember, you can dilute it to get more of it if it seems expensive to you, or too goopy. For me, a *former* avid milk drinker, this is a godsend. The true test will be my next cholesterol test, though. But other reviewers have said it's lowered their numbers a LOT...so we'll see. I can't say enough about it. I should warn you GMO weary folks though... this is the ultimate in genetic engineering. They wear the GMO on their sleeves. You either believe in the science, or you don't. But since we've all been eating GMO foods for decades without anyone telling us, and are living longer than ever, I'd stop and think about it. Try it. See if it works in your life, then go from there.
