What is included in the Big Air XP Belay Package?

The package includes the high-friction ATC-XP belay device paired with a heavy-duty Black Diamond locking screwgate carabiner for an all-in-one belay and rappel setup.

What rope sizes are compatible with this setup?

The ATC-XP accepts dynamic single, half, and twin ropes ranging from 7.7 mm to 11 mm in diameter.

How do the dual-friction modes work?

Flipping the device alters braking force. Standard mode gives smooth payout for thicker ropes, while teeth-milled high-friction channels offer up to 3x holding power for extra control on thin strands or heavy falls.

Can the Big Air XP be used in "guide mode" directly off an anchor?

No. The ATC-XP is a traditional tubular device without an auto-block release eyelet. If you need guide-mode capability for belaying seconders directly off a multi-pitch anchor, choose the ATC-Guide.

Is this package suitable for double-rope rappelling?

Yes. The device features two slots for double-rope rappels, and the high-friction grooves allow you to easily regulate descent speed and heat dissipation across long rappels.
