Fluval Foam Filter Block, Replacement Filter Media for Fluval 404, 2-Pack

These are good filters that fit my Fluval 407 canister filters. I use 4 of the filters in each canister. They can get really dirty which tells me they are doing their job.

I ordered these wanting foam filters for my 406 model. The item description says these are for 404/405. Someone posted in their review that they fit the 406. They are actually FOR the Fluval 406 (see photo), so may not fit the 404/405 as claimed. I took the gamble that they would fit my 406 because the price was so good. Very pleased; I got four boxes for the price of two.

Reluctant to get a new one for my turtle, I finally broke down and get new replacement, the reason why it took me so long was because the replacement I bought back in 2012 was such BAD quality I do not want to support bad quality product (read my old review from below), but to my surprise, these filters I ordered this time looked just like the original, the pores are a lot denser....I WAS AMAZED!!!! for once company finally listened to the customer and made the product better!!! Thank you fluval for changing the replacement filter!!! I will be buying it more often now that I know it's better quality!!!! ===below is my old review from 2012=== The pore size is so much bigger and not as dense compare to the original one that came with the canister, I'm a bit disappointed.... I ordered these specifically for my Fluval 405 filter. The image on Amazon even shows they are for the 404/405 filters. What was shipped to me, however, were filters for the 406/407 line of filters. I was concerned at first that these would not fit. But they were an exact match to the filter media and fit perfectly in my 405 filter. So if you order these for your 404 or 405, don't be alarmed if the package says 406/407. These will work!

We had a Pleco that lived 17 years so we used MANY of these. These are fabulous for the filter system!!

At one time these were made better with tighter pores. They now have very large pores and don't catch as much as they used to. This means my media gets full of gunk more quickly and needs rinsing more often. One plus is that I like that these Fluval filters are individually wrapped, and I trust the brand, but it does not justify the high cost for a couple pieces of foam. (I usually buy the 406 size for my 306 canister and cut to size. The cost is about the same and I have the benefit of using the ends I cut off in my HOB filters). I ordered generic replacement foam pads and in comparison the generic pads seem to work just as well for half the cost. Have fluval 406 filter I use these in, they serve their purpose.

So Glad I found these. No more cutting sponges to fit. These just fit my FX5 perfectly.

You have to cut a bit to fit Fluval 207. Works fine. Recommend
