IK Multimedia lets you do all of that and more with the iRig Pre HD Mfi (Made for iPhone/iPad) microphone interface. Powered by two included AA batteries, the iRig Pre HD Mfi has switchable 48V phantom power that lets you combine the power of your iOS device's DAW app with the spec's of your preferred microphone — even heavy-duty, high-dollar studio condenser mics. It features an XLR input, high-performance preamp with an external gain wheel, and a switchable headphone out with discrete level control. **Q: Can i plug a musical instrument, such as an electric guitar or bass into this device if i use an xlr to quarter-inch cable?**
A: Yes.

**Q: Can this be used to connect my mixer (xr18 or 1202) to my android? what output should i use - monitor, line, main? thank you!**
A: You have several options. I created a bus and used that channel do feed a live video. This allowed me to monitor the main mix on the mixer and control the feed into the Irig through the bus. Or you can connect to the monitor or the headphone Jack. Because of the XLR on this model, you may have get an adapter on some configurations. Good luck and have fun. You can find lots of adapters in Amazon. I tried many until I found the set up I wanted.

**Q: Constant Beeping noise - how to fix this? Appearing in recordings and very annoying.**
A: I used to have a problem with beeping when I would set my cell phone on my vantage tube amplifier.  Every so often the network sends out a radio signal that would interfere with the electronics in the amplifier causing it to beep.  I never put my cell phone there again.

Many things to like, good sound quality input and output, allows high quality microphone connection to phone, tablet or laptop. Also acts as a sound card for wired headphones on laptops daft enough not to include an audio jack. Very much recommended for portable audio needs.So far plugs into USB C and just works, also tried on USB A. NB I haven't yet found a situation I need the batteries which helps keep the weight down, 48v power works fine for microphones from USB C connection.It is a shame that the USB cable is not USB C on both ends.The headphone jack could be further from the USB socket, one of my bigger, non-standard headphone cables doesn't fit well. But normal ones will.Does it need the battery compartment? it could be smaller and more portable if it didn't have it.Overall great product using it regularly for recording, zoom/teams etc on the go.
