Operating at 3 volts and 20 milliamps, it offers energy-efficient brightness ideal for LCD backlighting, wearable tech, and creative lighting projects. Sold in packs of two, these rigid, plastic-encased LEDs provide a modern, customizable lighting solution without the complexity of EL inverters. ## Description These pretty strips of light are plastic diffused backlights, often seen in LCD displays. Normally they're tucked behind the LCD and shine white light from below. Here, we've got the LEDs available individually and they're really cool! each LED is encased in a 3.5mm thick strip of a acrylic. The acrylic strip is a special Type that is very good at diffusing light, so even though there is only one single white LED, it provides near-uniform lighting. The other flat side of the strip has a reflector on it so you only get light from the top (otherwise the backlight would lose 1/2 the brightness unnecessarily). you can treat this backlight just like an LED, light with 3V at 20MA current and you get a pretty shape that you can mask with vinyl or draw over with marker. Gels can be used to change the color. We Think these would make great wearable electronics without the need for El or inverters, they're much brighter than El and use less battery. The trade-off is these are not flexible at all. Review: Really great item - Yep! Works great and there are TWO! Used it to light up a BR2049 wallet concept to make a prop replica. A wee bit long, but if you plan it out right, it will work easily and well. Review: Just OK. - No specs or operation instructions. Fried one attempting to connect to power. Otherwise, works OK, but a bit dim. ## Features - Plastic diffused backlights - Each led is encased in a 3.5Mm thick strip of a acrylic - This particular backlight has a 45 mm x 86 mm lit area ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00R5CDIG4 | | Amperage | 20 milliamps | | Best Sellers Rank | #126,683 in Industrial & Scientific ( See Top 100 in Industrial & Scientific ) #146 in LED Lamps | | Brand Name | Adafruit | | Color | White | | Customer Reviews | 3.9 out of 5 stars 41 Reviews | | Finish Type | Unfinished | | Finish Types | Unfinished | | Item Dimensions L x W x H | 3.39"L x 1.77"W x 0.14"H | | Item Weight | 0.27 g | | Light Source Special Features | Color-changing, Customizable Shape | | Light Source Type | LED | | Light Source Wattage | 6 Milliwatts | | Manufacturer | Adafruit Industries | | Manufacturer Part Number | 1621 | | Material | Plastic | | Material Type | Plastic | | Model Number | 1621 | | Mounting Type | Panel Mount | | Number of Items | 2 | | Number of Light Sources | 1 | | Number of Packs | 2 | | Power Source | Battery Powered | | Set Name | 2 | | Shade Material | Acrylic | | Shape | Rectangular | | Style Name | Modern | | UPC | 748347523195 | | Unit Count | 2 Count | | Voltage | 3 volts | ## Product Details - **Color:** White - **Finish Type:** Unfinished - **Light Source Type:** LED - **Material:** Plastic - **Shape:** Rectangular ## Images ![Adafruit 1621 White LED Backlight Module, Large, 45 mm L x 86 mm W (Pack of 2) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51j2zflBu1L.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really great item *by T***D on June 4, 2018* Yep!
