Also contact them and they are quick answering for help. These stones are for slurry making and general dressing of the stone. **Q: Is this good for s30v steel?** A: Yes, though you may also want a more coarse stone and maybe a finer stone to go with it. I start with 350 grit then use this stone to finish the edge.
