Don't miss this stunningly animated full-length motion picture, starring the coolest cast of demon hunters in the history of anime! DVD EXTRAS: Interview with Creator Kazuya Minekura Character Profiles & Art Gallery Movie Commentary with the English Cast Original Japanese Promos and TV Spots .com Although billed as "The Motion Picture," Saiyuki: Requiem (2001) is actually an OAV that continues the popular broadcast series. Sanjo Genzo and his motley crew, Sha Goyjo, Cho Hakkai, and Son Goku, are once again en route to India when they meet Horan, a young woman fleeing a monster that proves unusually difficult to kill. To thank them for her rescue, Horan invites the quartet back to the extravagant palace of her "master," Go Dogan. After a sumptuous dinner that delights Goku, the wanders retire to their rooms, where they're visited by murderous doppelgangers of each other. Naturally, Sanjo discovers the source of the evil and dispatches Dogan with a little assistance from his companions. The story contains few surprises, but the four adventurers provide the special brand of quarrelsome cool that won the series so many fans. Excellent
If you're into the Saiyuki series, then Requiem is definitely worth seeing. A lot of times when anime movies get dubbed, they'll get new voice actors, but for Requiem they kept the same cast as before, so it was easy to stomach on that alone. Plot-wise, it was excellent as it integrated elements from the original story so that it was an addition to the series instead of its own little subplot. 10/10

Every Bit As Good
This movie was every bit as good as the series itself. It still has all the raw emotion of the episodes, packed inside a single movie. We get to see more of their pasts and they meet a new enemy as well. Definitely a must buy for Saiyuki fans!

go journy to the west
I never really finished this series, but from what I do remember this movie does a great job of adding to the original story line. the adding of 3D elements, like the water and the leaves give texture and depth to what would flat. in all the story line gives us a glimpse into the past of our heroes.

The last of a great thing.
This direct to video movie is a great addition to the original Saiyuki series (now being repackaged as the Double Barrel collection). It has all the great spirit, artwork, and attitude of these 4 guys we love to watch...If you enjoyed the 50 episode series, you'll enjoy this stand alone movie. And for those who enjoy the english dubbed version (which happens to fit the characters and spirit of the Japanese version remarkably well), this is your last opportunity to hear the Sanzo party as we know them. The next Saiyuki series, Reload, has been released by a different company so none of the english voice actors will be the same! I'm trembling in fear at the thought of who will replace the voices we know and love...
