useful if using single external monitor to connect to two laptop or desktop computer

The KMV switch works as advertised, it allows me to switch between work and personal computer with ease. I ordered the Hot switch model this feature allow you to push a key combo to switch the input to the other computer and back. You push the "Ctrl" key twice and either the "1" key for the first input or "2" key for the second input depending on which input you are on at the time. The switch also has a button that can be used to switch the inputs to the other computer. The switch is small so dose not take up a lot of space. It came with 2 USB A to USB B cables about 5 foot long and one HDMI 5 foot cable so you will need to purchase 2 additional USB cables unless you have some already. The switch has two USB inputs one for the keyboard input and one for the mouse input. I am using a Logitech wireless Unifying receiver and have it setup to receive signals from my mouse and keyboard leaving the other input on the KMV switch unused. I can use the open USB port on the switch for a shared thumb drive. (Note: only thumb drives will work as they use very little power, bigger hard drives draw to much power to work reliably) The switch dose not require power as it is powered from the USB cable from each computer. The only CONS to it is that the HDMI cable dose not state whether it is 4K compatible. and the USB cable seam cheep. Over all a great device.

It does the job, but the ports are really cheap. Jf you move any wire by even a millimetre, the device disconnects and reconnects (impractical when gaming). Also, after 8 months, the keyboard port stopped working. Definitely invest in a higher quality KVM switch.

I have been using this daily since Nov 2020. It does the job. Very easy to set up and the hot keys work well. Overall, I’m really happy with it for the money I paid. Only quirks are: 1: my Microsoft wireless mouse/ ergo keyboard set worked fine with my work laptop but when I switched to my personal desktop, the mouse wouldn’t function. The set worked fine when plugged directly into the system. I just ended up swapping the mouse and keyboard and solved that problem. 2: When switching back to my Dell laptop (connected through a Dell USB-C dock) my monitors will occasionally blink, some times it stops after a few seconds, sometimes it last minutes.

Everything fine. Except one tiny-little thing. It cuts off monitor at all, does not left any standby voltage/resistor, so inactive device detects monitor were plug off, and try to init another connected display. It is bit annoying to reinit resolution each time.
