Review: Excellent performance, easy swapping and additional cooling - I originally bought two of these to enable easy swapping of drives in a backup server. They have worked flawlessly since then, running 24/7 for over a year. The build is robust and swapping out drives is very easy. I later added one to my desktop PC because I have a 24TB drive that runs very hot, but the built in fans in this enclosure also cool the drives far more than any case fan. Since moving the drive to the enclosure I have had no problem with overheating. So, great for swapping drives but also great for cooling drives.
Review: These are working as intended - No issues, fan on lowest setting is still audible but not loud imo, measured 30-35db with a phone app

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I turn each hard drive off or are they all on one switch?**
A: each one has a power switch. I use these for systems that require a fast clone recovery. I hook up the two top bays to power and data. Put the system drive in the top bay. Place a drive to be cloned into the center. Clone it. Then store it in the bottom not hooked up bay. In case of failure just put the spare in the online slot. Back up in seconds not hours or days.

**Q: I see this can interface with sas drives - does it act as a sas controller or does my board need to have an sas controller?**
A: No, the HSB3SATSASBA allows SAS drives to connect but is not a SAS controller. Your computer will still need a SAS controller to read the drives.
Matt, StarTech.com Support

**Q: Does anyone know if this will fit into an hp z640? worried about how it slides in and mounts with the z640's 5.25" bays.**
A: The HSB3SATSASBA has not been tested on an HP z640. The rack uses standard 5.25" mounting points. Brandon, StarTech.com Support

**Q: will this function normally if mounted sideways?**
A: It should, there are cases, storage devices, and NAS devices from big name manufacturers where hard drives are positioned on their side with no problems.
