Once adding filling though, they are just as comfortable. The cooling side is more of a gimmick than anything as it feels cool at first but loses it almost immediately. I have bought some hotel quality pillows in the past and like them, but decided to give this one a try. I really like the cooling side, however it doesn't stay cool forever, which nothing really will. But I really love how you can remove the stuffing to meet your standards of what thickness you want your pillow to be. This pillow is kind of similar to the 'my pillow' which I've liked, yet this one seems like it will stay fluffier and consistent longer. I really am happy with this pillow, yet it's only been a couple days. I took about a third of the stuffing out and I think it's perfect. I am a back sleeper/side sleeper and this is so comfortable for me. It springs back and fluffs up easily. Hope this helps. I like the price point as well, since the pillow itself is not washable so replacing it every few years is not that costly. Fits in my standard silk pillowcase great!
