Checkout the 2000 **Q: Is the 6500 & 8000 saltwater reels** A: Yes, they can definitely be used for saltwater. These are the two biggest reels in this Daiwa reel series. These are fairly large reels with a lot of line capacity. As far as I am aware all of the Daiwa reels in the BG series can be used for both fresh water and saltwater. **Q: Question for bg 1500 owners. would the bg 1500 work well with a light/medium light rod for fishing smaller creeks?** A: Yes the reel is for saltwater which makes it super durable, plus the 1500 is super small taking 8-10 lb 130 yds of braid. Buy smart.
