It supports photosynthesis by slowly releasing CO2, promoting lush, vibrant growth without altering water pH. Safe for fish and compatible with CO2 systems, it helps maintain a healthy, algae-resistant aquatic environment. ## Description From the manufacturer Without the addition of essential nutrients, aquarium plants will gradually yellow, drop their leaves, and eventually die. Plants take up nutrients by their roots and leaves. API LEAF ZONE plant fertilizer contains an excellent source of the necessary plant nutrients and is rapidly absorbed through plant leaves to promote lush growth and vibrant color. API ROOT TABS plant fertilizer are rich in iron to develop strong roots, rapid growth, and best coloration. Slowly releasing simple carbon compounds, API CO2 BOOSTER product aids in fueling the photosynthetic process by turning light energy into new plant growth. Vibrant aquatic plants vs. unsightly algae Healthy growing plants can outcompete algae. In fact, aquatic plants help reduce algae growth, as they compete for the same nutrients. Here are some guidelines to set up the right environment For thriving aquatic plants, use a lighting system type and wattage that suit them best. To prevent unsightly algae growth, aquarium light should be on a maximum of 8-10 hours per day. It is recommended to test the water with both API NITRATE & API PHOSPHATE TEST KITS because excess nitrate and phosphate can contribute to unsightly algae growth, and zero levels of nitrate and phosphate will hinder plant growth, so you’ll want to make sure levels are optimal. To get rid of algae, use API ALGAEFIX algae control at first sight. API plant products are formulated to be used in aquariums containing freshwater fish. If overdosed, perform a water exchange to remove excess material. The main ingredient is glutaraldehyde which is active algaecide, Leaf zone is a liquid fertilizer with iron and potassium . So yes they can be used together to help your plants grow. There are a few other liquid ferts out there that are more complete and a better value for long term use. Dry ferts have a much better cost advantage long term, but liquid is quick and easier. I have had great success using CO2 booster with algae control and nice plant growth when use with another liquid fert, before changing over to the other supplements. So I would recommend, but I would also look up other option to keep cost down and provide the best combo of ferts and carbon supplement out there. **Q: Api co2 booster vs seachem excel , what do you guys think. which is better and gives better results on plants. thx** A: Neither really help your plants grow, the active ingredient glutaraldehyde is used to control algae. Seachem Flourish and API Leaf Zone are ferts that help your plants grow. In my experience they have both controlled algae well. Using booster and excel you have to be careful dosing as they can cause melt of val, sag and some sword and other delicate plants when dosing full strength. **Q: Can I use this in soil?** A: Lots of unhelpful answers here. Yes, you can use it in a soil-based aquarium. **Q: What is the difference between this and Seachem Flourish Excel? They seem like same products.** A: They are very similar, the only difference may be the percentage of glutaraldehyde (and the pricing), which is the main ingredient of both which is how they control algae. There are much better options out there for the price or either. The MSDS sheets would show the actual percentage of each ingredient in the product. They are water down to keep them somewhat safe to use. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐ Wrong description *by A***J on 30 March 2020* Product description shows instructions and other labeling is in English.
