It's wasteful, messy, and I wasn't getting even cooking leaving me with both partly burned and partly undercooked bacon. It was very unsatisfying.I took a chance on the PrepSolutions Microwaveable Bacon Grill and I am very happy I did. The bacon turns out great. It was cooked evenly across the board with no splatter in the microwave. It's easy to lift the top part of the grill to check on progress. My microwave is on the smallish side, not tiny or anything like that, but not a full size either. Still, the Grill fit perfectly on the turntable.Of course one does have to clean the PrepSolutions Microwaveable Grill instead of throwing it away like I did with paper towels, but it's really easy to clean. It's like having two extra dishes- not a big issue. Plus you can actually collect some of the bacon grease which is great for all kinds of cooking.That my bacon turned out great makes this worth buying on it's own.
