Could I use a metal stamp to stamp the copper into wood? Would this work?

I've inlaid myself and you can't stamp copper this thin, but the good news is that it comes preglued. Shape it while still attached, make the inlay shallow and fun! I worked stainless into a guitar face for a groovy clock in '74. Copper tape was a novelty, then, but used it the next year for perimeter protection, this product was perfect then and now.

I am using vinyl cling for artificial frosted panes on a glass door. Will this tape apply smoothly and look decent as a faux "soldering" border?

If you work it carefully, the copper tape makes a lovely accent. I am used to black solder borders, but the tape I've owned for months hasn't tarnished. The tape is easily removable and affordable, so I would go for it.

What makes the adhesive conduct electricity? Graphite paper?

The adhesive contains conductive particles which are added in the manufacturing process.

Has anyone soldered small electrical components to this tape with any luck?

I've only used it with stained glass and for small hanging braces. It holds solder very well, you just have to make sure that you solder to something more than just tape mounted to non-solderable surface. For example, if you put a line of tape onto a wooden board and solder something to the tape, it will hold the item to the tape but there's no guarantee the tape will stay stuck to the board.
